I am a pretty avid reader and I was wondering if any of you kind folks could come up with a couple books that can help me out.  What are the best help book, autobiographies, or collection of essays.  The only one I have read to this point is "Alice In Genderland".  Good book, but I am not married so some of it was not necessarily directed towards me.

Depending on what information you are trying to gain will have a big effect on which books to read. Myself, in my early days I loved "She's Not There" by Jenny Boylan, "True Selves" by Mildred Brown, "Wrapped In Blue" by Donna Rose and a newer book called "The Transgender Guidebook: Keys to a Successful Transition " by Anne Boedecker

I would also highly recommend "Whipping Girl" by Julia Serano. After reading that it all finally made sense to me

I recommend Helen Boyd's 'My Husband Betty' and 'Transgender History' by Susan Stryker. Virginia Mollenkopt's 'Omnigender' and 'Crossing Over' by Vanessa Sheridan.

Trans Forming Families was key in helping me understand where my parents were coming from...and for helping them understand where I was coming from.

Fiction often exposes truths that non-fiction obscures.  Everyone should read Trans Sister Radio.

Transitions, A Guide to Transitioning for Transsexuals and Their Families  by Mara Christine Drummond is a pretty good read that I recommend.
