Standing to pee without using an STP

Being fairly new here I don't know whether this is old news for other people here, but in case it's new and useful to anybody...

Yesterday I discovered that you absolutely can do your business standing up without requiring an STP.  It works like this:

You square up to the bowl or the garden plant you're about to water, and unzip.  You then use two fingers to flatten your labia minora and lift, so that the jet of liquid is directed out instead of down.  And that's it!  Obviously, you'll want to practice your aim before you try it in public, but that's what the shower is for.  This method also has a downside in that you have to touch the anatomy in question, but I find this is offset by the convenience of being able to answer the call of nature without specialist equipment.

It only works if your anatomy is set up right, not all female bodied people have the right positioning for that to work.

Post labiaplasy I'm again all over the show like some garden sprinkler, eish.

But if one can make it work... very useful, or?

Yeah I've heard this too. I wonder if it's just a small percentage it works for or if most people can do it.

I can do it into a toilet without touching anything with my trousers down but I couldn't imagine doing it through a zip (I think that's what you're saying anyway).

I pissed all over last time I tried. I try in the shower just for the hell of it, but I don't think my anatomy is made for it. . .

I could see with the right technique and anatomy that this would work. I have not tried standing up yet. My question is, how long does it take,  regardless of any device you use, to mentally undo one's conditioning to peeing sitting down????

I think that's whats stopping me from trying it, my mind keeps says, "what...turn around."

@henrythrob-- It's a good question. I can use an STP pretty well (I have tried this non-STP method, and I know someone who does this, a bit genderqueer I think) but I can't completely void that way. I have to use it and then sit which is frustrating a bit. Maybe after awhile that it is nervousness or something. (I have a Mr. Fenis btw).

I've found if you're absolutely straddiling the toilet bowl while standing without even touching your anatomy you can STP although it's kind of awkward to do this and obviously nothing that mimics how a bio-male would pee. Then again as several guys mentioned here not everyone's anatomy is set up the same.

Well the method I have heard actually does mimic how bio-males do it, as you can direct your pee. OTOH, I sure can't do this and sounds like lots of you can't!!

Could also try something similar to the "magic cone".

I saw this years ago as a novelty, but... I never knew they ended mass producing it.

You mean something like this?

Although the discovery for me is... Coffee in a can? First time I see that packaging.

Though there are all sorts of stp devices. We were talking about no device. OTOH, if you want to talk about low-end or cheap ones-- there's also the coke bottle thing or I suppose you could do a diy magic cone too. It looks sort of like a paper airplane with a curve in it. :)

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. My brain keeps going "Wait, this won't work. You have to sit down or your bladder won't work." I've been trying to get over it since I started transition about a year ago and I only ever have success when I am at home and when I really, really need to pee. Like, emergency levels of needing to pee.

So, I think its just time and practice. I have found its easier if I wait until my eyes are floating, but most of the time I don't feel like being uncomfortable and say screw it. My husband sits down too, so its not like men don't sit.

I can do this...but only if I'm wearing a skirt! ;)

Nothing wrong with sitting.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

It's interesting to hear how big a role anatomy plays with this method; from what you're saying I'm wondering whether the position of the urethra is the key.

I have that problem with peeing in the shower.  For some reason my brain just wouldn't let me do it and it took me ages to break the conditioning.

I'm finding I can direct the stream without too much trouble, but it looks to me like this could be heavily dependant on anatomy.

I've seen it done  :)  Not by transmen but by some rather interesting and talented gals I use to party with years ago pre-transition

I was actually rather surprised and impressed at how well they could do it  :)  So it can be done

I did it. It worked, but the dysphoria was worse than the good feeling

I think I could do it without using anything or touching down there at all just by leaning forward with one hand on the wall behind the toilet.  It's been ages since I last tried so don't quote me on that one.  I would try now for you guys but we stack our giant collection of toilet rolls (I have no idea why my parents feel it necessary to have about forty rolls at any one time?) on a shelf behind the toilet here so I can't.
