Spending way too much time on the internet since my neighbor gave me her wireless password, so this will be fast.  And even though it's probably the wrong place to post this, here goes. 

So, heard this on the news earlier this week and then a friend forwarded me this link. Nice research into curing hair loss from the University of Pennsylvania.  I want my hair back and this may be a big breakthrough if it's accurate.  One of the research doctors said in another articale that it may be less than two years away.  Anyone hear more about it?

Looks like it could also be an effective way to treat uwanted hair as well. This PGD2 substance could be placed in hair folicules deliberately to inhibit growth

 I'm willing to bet everything I own that we'll never see this:

The same goes for stopping baldness. I doubt we'll ever see it be very potent - it'll probably be sold in such a way that you have to keep taking it forever. If that's not possible, then someone will just get a patent for it and never produce it. Pharmaceutical companies tend to inhibit the progress of science in such ways, for the sake of capitalism.

Woo.

If it does work out, though, then that's pretty exciting.

Wow..... That's a woefully inaccurate statement but, it's besides the point. If they could make a creme or something that perminantly stopped unwanted hair growth they would make hundreds of millions of dollars. Also it's a university study, university research is published publicly and technologies that are developed are licensed to private companies for commercialisation. They use the money for... You guessed it... Funding more research. Research is the primary purpose of universities, it's for the advancement of human knowledge.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. If it is in research right now, perhaps 20 years from now commercially available in the USA for a drug. It took my company upwards of 10  years for passing medical devices through FDA approval that posed little threat to life and was similar to pre-existing devices. This is partly the reason drugs and such are charged much higher prices in the USA. LOTS of burocratic paperwork 

I developed a totally drug free system to get my hair back. I buy wigs 

nip those testes off and stop any effects asap ..

I've been watching the progress of a company called Replicel.  They are using stem cells to regenerate hair.  I think they are halfway through their clinic trials and are expected make the procedure public in the next year or two.
