To all in the Portland get together.

What a great cast of characters! Sounds like you had a wonderful time. This is so heartwarming, a feel good moment. Superb that you all wanted to get to know the individuals who spirits are expressed in print on a screen here. Neat if you can get together again.

Were pictures taken that could be posted?

I believe that everyone consented to have their picture posted here.  If anyone actually in the picture would like a full resolution copy of the original photographs then please just let me know.  My partner, Peaches, is not pictured, as she was behind the camera.  We took a lot of pictures at the art show and got a lot of really beautiful images of the art, of each other, and of us together.  It was an amazing day, made especially pleasant  by the good company of the folks from Susan's Place.   :-*

Hi Miharu Barbie,

Group photo is precious. You and your wife look Beautiful and colorful. I like the Salsa on your dress (I love Latin & Brazilian Jazz). The hearts behind you look to express your love for each other. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like ya'all had fun...really wish I could've been there, but...anyway, now I will have a new thought whenever I see "salsa"!

Maybe next time...oh hey, when *is* the next time?

:)

Next get together planned is a 'Carpe Solarum' (Sunburn the Carp?) picnic in one of Portland's free parks accessible by mass transit, on Sunday September 23rd. Details to follow.

Initial plans is for a free event, BROTHAS ('bring rour own tofu, hummous, and stuff') with at least one sun umbrella for the solarphobic, a croquet match for the Alice in Wonderland set, possible cowboy golf (if we can find some cowboys ;) )and lots of great conversation. Family members and significant others always welcome.

Post in this forum if you couldn't make the first get together and want to be sure to be kept in the loop on the details for this one on the 23rd.

Email me or PM me if you want to be included in the event planning.

If someone wants to make or bring something for everybody, that's cool, but let's avoid the stress of a full blown potluck (I still get jello casserole flashbacks!) At minimum, if you plan to share, please bring an ingredient list at least in your head, and make sure what needs to stay cold stays cold and what needs to stay hot stays hot. I know we have vegans, vegetarians, at least one tree nut allergy, and probably a few compromised immune systems, so no Haggus-and-Mayonaisse Macadamia Sun Salad.

If someone has a transportation challenge, an injury or handicap, or is just a mass transit in portland newbie, let me know. We can carpool and/or maxpool to get you there, either the whole way or the the last 100 yards/meters/cubits.

Tut Tut! It looks like RAIN!

OK, had to say that so as not to jinx the weather. Looks like we've got a perfect weather forecast for Portland this Sunday. Looking forward to seeing everybody.

Sadly, I am not going to be able to attend.  No fuel, no bus fare and no money.

I was so looking forward to see you all again.

We had a wonderful time today picnic-ing, lounging, lollygagging, gabbing, and generally flinging our balls around in public (very closely bowled game of Bocce/lawn bowling; well rolled everybody!).  ;D
We looked just like this:

I only broke one tree with my wild throws. :(

To those who couldn't make it today, hope your family, work, and personal situations are all ok, and look forward to seeing you next time!

Couldn't have asked for better company or better weather. :D

It was a really fun day. I had such a fun time just hanging with the girls. I am already looking forward to the next time we can meet.

I had a lot of fun yesterday... :)

Darn hills and balls = increasing velocity + nearby pedestrians = OMG!! Stop stop stop! LOL

Unfortunately, that random passerby I pressed into service as a photographer managed, in spite of her friendly demeanor, to take two very clear pictures of people who were out-of-focus...here's the better of the two:

From L to R: Myself, Brooke, Madeline, and Ms. OBrien.

I may very well be taking a closer look at Portland in the next couple/3 years. I really liked the feel of it, it's better than Seattle for what little I saw. I'd like to check out jobs, rent, fun places to go/people to do, etc.

It was great fun...and thanks to Brooke for non-stop talking the entire trip home; she was just making sure I wasn't asleep at the wheel!

Interesting...at ( PM I was calling out of work for today. I actually got home at about 2250, got a good night's sleep, and the descent into Hell has stopped. But, enough about that!  :-\

It was just such a perfect day! Good weather, odd people, and the occasional dog-horse... :)

It is nice when my constant chattering is appreciated. Normally people just wish I would be quiet.  ;D

Yep, this having friends thing is great.  :D
Already miss you and the great folks I met at our first PDX GTG too.

Glad to hear that all of you had a fantastic time.  Hopefully the next Seattle Meetup will be just as fun.

I found a few other pics, but they were all either overexposed (phone was set to "night vision" + taking pics in the day...who'd've thunk? LOL) but there was one more that's usable:
