so i'm planning on starting to see a therapist to discuss things and i was wondering if some people more experienced with going to therapists could help me out a bit.
as a student, i'd rather not spend too much money and i noted that some of the local psychotherapy charge anywhere between $70-$120.
i had assumed i could simply go to the university counselling services, but after seeing many others speak of gender/sexuality specialists, i'm not as certain about that choice.
The school counselling services mention:

Areas of expertise include: personal issues and trauma, relationship issues, stress, anxiety, depression, sexual harassment, eating disorders, etc. Counselling is offered on a short-term basis by trained professional counsellors.

do you think it would be ok to go to these counsellors and see how things work out first or would it be more advisable to simply seek out a gender identity specialist as i feel that my needs are somewhat specific?
