Would anyone have makeup brands they could recommend based on quality and cost? I'm trying to find a happy medium, but possibly without spending more than $100 on only foundation products. I don't want something that will make me break out, though (e.g. some Walmart brands). I'd rather buy expensive makeup than have a rash (happened in the past  )

I like Neutrogena and Almay for price and quality. I have really sensitive skin and they don't make me break out. For a more expensive brand ($30 for foundation), Studio Gear makes some good products that are good with sensitive skin as well.

Often you will truly trade quality for a low price. It depends on your needs. If you are younger and have good skin you can get away with less expensive brands. If you are older or need a bit more coverage, it may be worth it to pay a bit more for better foundation.

Revlon ColorStay.  Good coverage and fairly inexpensive.

Well, I used to steal my mom's makeup <.< ... and she had expensive-ish taste. Frankly, it was the best I'd ever used. Since then, on my own budget, I've mostly tried Maybelline, NYC, Covergirl... some other off brands... but they've been "give or take" (NYC was pretty much the worst).
I hated the Maybelline nude airfoam. Made me look like I was frosted.

I haven't tried Neutrogena yet, which kind of surprises me since I like their facial cleaning products. I think I'll try Neu makeup

I'm personally a big MAC fan... So outside of that, NYX is a great bang for the buck brand. As far as foundations go, Revlon Colorstay is a good brand, and if you want to go all out Makeup Forever HD foundation is great as well.  Just checkout your local Sephora store, which will have several brands in one place. 

I got some Sally Hansen Lipflation lip gloss the other night, it is great. It kind of irritates your lips and causes them to appear fuller. They feel fuller to the touch too. It was only about $6.

I'm now a big fan of rimmel foundation after trying a lot of diffferent brands. Covers well without looking pasty and made in a ton of shades so you should be able to find something that matches your skin tone. I think they call it 25 hour or something, it really does last a long time and doesn't rub off at all, but cleans off easily with soap and water. Blush and loose powder over it.  For facial moisturizer, I've tried a bunch and avon has some products that don't make me break out and soften my skin and give it some volume. "plumping "facial skin helps soften your face.  moisturize before foundation make it go on much nicer. Almay is my fave for pencils and eye shadow and that two part mabeline mascara (NOT waterproof!) works good, I use the "volume" one. Other than that a thin line of liquid brush on eyeliner, that's my daily morning makeup regime. Takes me about 10-15 minutes to deal with, which is about 1/10 the time it took when I first started trying to wear makeup.

IMHO the eyes/brows are the hardest part to work out as everyone's are so different but can make a bit difference if your appearance. Any "tricks" you can do to open your eyes up and make them look larger helps a ton. Beady eyed women are not cute

For skin care I use clinique facial scrub a few times a week and a clay mask type product on my T zone to try to deal with gunky pores. Garnier has some nice skin care products too, I love their makeup remover wipes. Get's it off, even mascara without a fuss. Found a shade of loreal lipstick I like and seems to last pretty well. In my purse I carry a powder/mirror and lipstick along with a small tube of foundation/eye pencil for touch ups. It's not nearly the headache to look nice as I envisioned before I went full time. With practice it's no big deal at all.

I have a few NYX eyeshadows that are almost as good as my Urban Decay ones, and a couple blushes that are pretty nice too. Rimmel makes really good bronzer that's pretty cheap if you're into that. I really think it's worth it to get a good foundation. MAC is really good, and their foundations are cheaper than other higher end brands. I have both the Studio Fix fluid and powder, and I really love both products. Pretty much any product has the potential to break you out; there's just so many ingredients in them that it's impossible to really be certain what you will or won't be sensitive to. No makeup is good for your skin, but if you wash it off really well and take good care of you're skin it'll be fine.
Also, ELF has an HD finishing powder that is just as good as the MUFE and MAC ones for less than $7 I think, and I also have one of the flat head powder brushes from their studio line that works well for applying liquid foundation (it was only like $3 too). As for mascara, I really like Cover Girl. I've used one that I think was called Lash Blast (something like that...) and I really liked it.
