I read Nero's post in the context of what do you like about what you're leaving behind and thought it would be a good thought exercise but didn't want to hijack his post. So here's a post for a list of what you like about the male social role.

1. I don't have to sit in public restrooms when I'm desperate enough I have to use one(eww)

2. I can go out alone at night or any time without needing to fear the people I might encounter.

3. Faster morning routine

4. ... maybe I can come up with more later?

I wouldn't say I like it but it was kinda nice to go into a hardware store without being treated like a bloody idiot.

In order to answer your question, I have to have been a man at some point in time; however, that isn't my case, so my answer is: NOTHING!

Never been in that role? Ever seen people in that role do something you would like to do but can't because you live in the female role?

Honestly Nikki, I don't miss anything at all from that life.  There were some good moments so to speak, but I always felt that I was an impostor living and experiencing  a life that wasn't mine.  The entire experience was a cruel, morbid joke from nature (or God) if you will, so no, there's nothing I miss.

-handshakes instead of hugs
-being able to do tasks for people (clean out the gutter/lift heavy items)
-opening up doors for people
-more comfortable clothes, better pattern/color
-thinking more with the head and less with emotion
-conversations are to the point most of the time
-able to talk about sports without people being impressed

that's all i can think of right now

The biggest one that stands out in my mind is-
People actually seeing who I am as a person, instead of what I look like. (this always made me feel trapped, all I've ever wanted was to be a mediocre looking man so people could actually SEE my personality)

My physical strength.  It is non-existent now.

But I suppose transgirls feel the same way in reverse, so...not exclusively a male thing.

frankly not much.  i'd love to kiss my gf on the lips without getting weird looks from people; that's about it.

not have to be sad about my infertility.

otherwise, there is NOTHING i like about being a male.

Can't think of one thing that I miss or liked about that side of myself, I'm far too happy being myself, with my eyes fixed on the future.

you are handsome! =p  I don't like being a male, but i love males! =D

I like my love of competition.  I love competing at anything...sports, board games, card games, video games, anything.

I like being able to argue loudly with someone and be friends with them afterwards, rather than having it turn into a big grudge with tons of drama.

As for the fact that I'm physically male, yeah, I like being able to pee standing up, or in the woods (which is useful for a runner, hehe), and even though I think my physical strength is crap, it would be even more crap if I were physically female, so that's a plus.

Yay!  I just posted in both the "Things you like about being male" and "Things you like about being female" threads.

I love being able to do both.

I far prefer hugs, actually...
I honestly love NOT cleaning gutters or lifting heavy objects.
It took me ahile to get used to having doors opened for me (although I consider that more of a courtesy than something gendered...I still find myself holding doors open for people, male or female...).

actually, the good thing about being a male is i never had to worry about how i look..i can just get out of the house in 2 minutes and i don't have to worry about being judged because i look tired or don't smile or whatever. =/


I think it is a man's world because i feel like the public space is mostly a male territory and women are always being objectified and the men (and women, as well)  are the one who are always looking and judging

The social role? Well...

1) Managing pretty well career-wise in a mostly female field. Figuring out my gender issues made me feel cheated somehow. 

2) Being married to a woman is much easier for a man.

3) The morning routines were so much simpler when I had a beard. Then again, lasers and electrolysis will take care of the need to shave.
