I've been on T for 6 months now, and I'm up 20 pounds. I'm starting to feel chubby, my binder is really getting tight and people have commented on my new belly. I'm just really hungry all of the time! I've never been so hungry before in my life. How do you deal with dieting when all you want to do is eat?

HAHA yeah.. the wanting to eat, its HARD as a fatty dealing with this part of T, infact, its been the hardest thing with my transition so far.

What works for me is protein and smaller meals, and i walk more, so instead of 3 normal meals, have 5 or 6 little ones, or snack on salad or fruit inbetween, just the usual diet advice will work for you, you just have to be super strong and control yourself, and it will sort of settle down, now i think marginally less about food and more about sexy times  ::) now that i think about it, all i think about is food and sex, i feel like a bit of a pig now ;) but hey i'm doing something right last time i weighed myself (a few weeks ago) my total for this year is 53kg lost (116pounds).

Good luck! be strong :)

I went up about 30 pounds after starting T (december last year) and I have a visible gut and my binder is tight, but I'm still enjoying it. Eating is fun, and I like to thump my belly for the noise it makes. I suppose it's a little annoying that my favorite shirts don't fit. It's not healthy to be overweight, but I'm having a hard time facing it as a real problem yet.

I'm one of those odd men out as I have actually lost weight since starting T, and my appetite is much lower now. This could be because my stomach as shrunk a little or maybe its the food that I eat, but I rarely feel hungry at all. For about the first two months on T I had to force myself to eat some days because I just had no appetite. There are days when I feel super hungry (today is one of those) but I just wait. Dieting is mostly about portion control. I have smaller dishes now that I live in Asia, so what I do is fill up that plate (about the size of a saucer in the states) and that is my portion. Once its gone its gone. In the last three months I'm down 39 pounds (about 17.5 kilos), and I keep dropping a little at a time.

The best diet advice I ever got was pretty simple: you just have to be hungry sometimes. If do I get the munchies or want to eat a lot, I typically just do something else. Believe it or not, those hunger pains pass if you just keep yourself busy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you have to starve yourself - that is not healthy at all. But, when you get insane cravings, just try and ignore them. It worked for me pretty well before I got on T when I was trying really hard to lose weight.

As long as you're eating right, you shouldn't be gaining that much weight when on testosterone unless you're attempting anabolism and trying to bodybuild. It's funny how so many guys claim fat gains when starting testosterone and blame the testosterone even though it alone will speed up your metabolism. You could be experiencing the effects of your metabolism being generally unhealthy and or an imbalance of hormones that makes you want to overeat, which could have been brought about by your body adjusting to the hormones and/or still not having the right amount of them. Again, I wouldn't say testosterone alone is solely responsible and there's likely something else going on, unless you had a lot of fat places before that you didn't realize and your gut is mainly the result of fat redistribution.
Anyway, I hope this helps. Consult a doctor if you're concerned about your sudden weight gain though, because they may be able to help you out if it's become an issue & is making you generally unhappy with yourself.

I didn't get hungrier on T, but I eat a lot of protein and not a lot of carbs. If I fall off the wagon and eat a lot of junk, I tend to eat more overall--and gain more.

I lost weight on T. I gained some muscle, so I guess I lost quite a bit of fat.

when you get hungry eat healthy food like a serving of fruit or vegetables. i had trouble with the hunger and gained a few lbs at first then i started losing them when i started eating healthy.

Steel cut oats are my BFF now. I've been eating them a lot now for a few reasons. The possibility of increasing cholesterol exists and steel cut oats help lower cholesterol. It's also really filling. I can eat one serving in the morning and not feel hungry until the late afternoon.
