Anyone who would date me would have to accept that I have two kids. However, my kids are 19 and 22; pretty much adults.

At one point, I felt that I'd be reluctant to date someone with kids. Now, I'm not so sure that's such a good idea. If I find myself attracted to a person who's willing to date me, why would kids make me think twice. And yet, I do.

What about you, my board mates? If someone you fancied had kids would that make you reconsider dating them?

Nope, wouldn't matter. I'd still date them.

Besides, I'm trans so..... can't be too nitpicky. >.<

Yeah, that's occurred to me, too.

Dating someone with kids would be much easier then dating someone with a spouse.

Ain't that the truth!

I certainly wouldn't run from a guy who has kids.  I've always wanted kids but was infertile even before HRT, so a built-in family would be nice to have.

Yeah, that's where I'd draw the line.

I can't see a negative with dating someone with kids unless you want their 100% undivided attention and you must have their 100% devotion to you .... which would be a little unhealthy and unrealistic. Personally, I would give it a shot cuz who knows !  I mean dating is just a period where you figure things out right ?

It would depend on the age of the kids...my ex had a child who was 7 when she entered my life and we were together until the early teens (and I was involved in the child's life until graduation).  However, that was a child who was 7 going on 25 in terms of how she conducted herself.  I have been around other kids that age who I would NOT want to be sharing a household with.

So, short answer is 'it all depends on circumstance...' But yeah, in some cases, it COULD be a deal-breaker.

Makes sense. I also would not want to come between kids and their parents.

Interesting question.  I have four children, who are all adults.  Go figure, I am 57.  And I have 10 grandchildren.  If they can't understand we had a life before them, and it bothers them; Don't let the door hit you, where the good lord split you.  At least that is how I fell about it.
