Teen to be sentenced in attack on transgender woman in Rosedale

A teenager who pleaded guilty in the beating of a transgender woman at a Rosedale McDonald's will be sentenced today.

Teonna Monae Brown, 19, pleaded guilty last month to first-degree assault and a hate crime after the beating of Chrissy Lee Polis, 22. The April attack drew national attention after a video of it went viral online.

Prosecutors have said they would seek a prison sentence for Brown of 10 years with five years suspended, Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger said after Brown's guilty plea. The combined maximum sentence for the crimes is 35 years.
