Several University of Redlands students have taken the task upon themselves to present Shepherd's story as a student-run production Thursday through Sunday on campus.

Faculty supervisor Leela MadhavaRau supports the production and the message it is sending.

" RThe Laramie Project' forces people to consider a hate crime, its ramifications and aftermath. Matthew Shepherd's death was the result of a hate crime and was a grim reminder of what occurs when equality and opportunity are not extended to all. It is important that Shepherd's death be remembered, that the results of bigotry are recalled. To move forward toward a world where equity is practiced, past crimes must be remembered," MadhavaRau said.
