Have no clue if this request is in the right place, but here goes.

I know it's always the first thing to ask: So, what's your budget...?

Well, I REALLY can't see an iPhone is anywhere near budget, I'm also mostly interested in a nicer single button QWERTY keyboard and a good reception and good cell-phone virus-resistance.

I have a notion the Blackberries pass on their viruses to the more 'normal' cells?!
Only since I got a lot of BlackBerry SMSs did I get major trouble with my Nokia 6500 crashing in the middle of doing ANYTHING with it.

So how about a Nokia C3 or a cheapo Blackberry (I you can't beat them, join them?). I'm not even rich-bitch enough WANTING an iPhone, it's just naph for ME.
Just my opinion as I HATE those folks showing off their Apple stuff, and a Rolex on their wrist just make sure. Icky.
Had it all, so let's move on - just my present take.

Thanks,
Axélle

I use former more then the latter and when I got an idea of something, hit Google product search for prices.

As far as malware resistance, Windows Phone 7 is best followed by iOS (unless you jailbreak it) and android in the rear (pain in the ass to upgrade the OS if manufacture doesn't have an update). I don't recall issues with Symbian and Blackberry is slowly dieing. All the dumb phones will be pretty good security wise as long as the software is mature.

For $250 USD, I would suggest Nokia C6 If you don't mind the slide out form http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=216746395&sellerid=24289548
For a candybar, Nokia Asha 303, dumbphone, $200 http://www.atgsm.com/Nokia_Asha_303_Touch_and_Type_Graphite_p/Phone-Nokia303Black.htm?click=544
and on the low end, Motorola CHARM MB502  $115 (kinda quirky/buggy) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875209282
Motorola FlipOut $150, android http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=220710796&sellerid=36197374

After five years my beloved old Motorola Mil-Spec phone finally died (apparently five years with me is harder than your average war when it comes to phones) so I now have a Samsung touch-screen Android.  It's most of the iCrap, for a lot less money.

It cost me $25 with the special coupon (it was on sale too, so it's $99 on sale, and $130 normally), +$25 for the increased memory and I have unlimited talk, text and data for $50 a month (MetroPCS).  But its' a phone, my Gmail, visual voice mail, WinAmpMP3 player with 8gb worth of music, it does WiFi net stuff, I finally have access to piles of free ringtones (Bad to the Bone for most, Warner Brothers Loony Tunes for work calls, Dick Dale's Misirlou for family, the Theme to Desperado for my GF - her choice - and the 007 Theme for text and email alerts), and it's got a camera (my first phone with a camera that's how retro I am), and it could do games if I did games and just having that capacity makes me feel like one of the cool kids now, and I can do email on the fly, which in the last year or so has become a new 'necessity'/demand for my job - which sucks but nothing I can do about it.

I can get far more Android Apps then I can ever use - or even see a need for.  Though I do like the GPS+Maps stuff, that has already come in handy on a bike ride.  The MP3 are great for walking (and I walk a lot) and bus rides, the phone part works great and at long last I now know who is sending me text messages.  In the past I'd get the message, but I would not get any other info beyond the text itself.  I had to guess based on syntax and vocabulary. So I feel so up-to-date now.

Axélle-Michélle check out Virgin Mobile phones, just got my daughter a new one for birthday! Designed for kids they're the best no contract, per month deal going ! Their owned by Sprint and shadow their coverage area (which is just about everywhere)
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"
