A transman in Chile, who choses to only be identified as Matias, has given birth. He is legally male, and it is extraordinary that a transman in Chile who is legally male would still have his female reprodcutive organs, because many judges will not grant a request to change ones legal sex without surgery.
"LGBTQ rights group Movilh said just 10 percent of petitions to change gender identity are granted in the country. This leaves the remaining 90 percent of transgender individuals vulnerable to many types of discrimination." Due to gray areas in the law, it is also unclear whether Matias and his male partner are both considered parents of the child, and Movilh expects that the parents will face much discrimination as two fathers raising the child.
