Maybe this should be in the politics but...

Ok, does anyone remember when the tsunami hit Asia and the USS Mercy over to help? The aftermath of doing that was a huge political bonus to the US. Likewise, when the USS Comfort was sent down to help after Katrina, it was a huge political bonus. So...

What if the way to combat terror and hate would be to assemble a military branch that was nothing but medical personnel? Where their job is nothing but bringing medicine to other countries around the world. We play the world's police, what about its doctor? Having a fleet of ships capable of being anywhere in the world to relieve pain and suffering.

Perhaps if we were the first ones to heal after a battle, to heal our enemies. Perhaps show them that there is more to America then just the soldiers we send. Not a pacifistic notion but maybe one that specialized in another form of combat that the terrorists use effectively against us. The form of public opinion. Because is it not better to heal one's opponent to turn him to your side then it is to simply kill him and lose the skills and abilities?

Any way you look at it, it's got to be a better plan than the ones we're using.

I really think you would find the story of Desmond T. Doss interesting. He was an army medic in WWII who refused to carry a gun, most people wanted him kicked out but he went on to win the Congressional Medal of Honor.

It sounds like a good idea to me!  Running that would certainly be cheaper than building cruise missles.
