So, um...Hi! I have a couple of questions I hope someone has experience with, there are so many knowledgeable and nice people here!
I've been on estrogen injections for 5.5 years +/- & gone through all sorts of fun & interesting changes. Most have been wonderful (sleep, digestion, autoimmune, immune, mood, sensory...pretty much anything serotonin related). And a few have been not so wonderful (but normal for anyone whose body made the right hormones all along).
About a year and a half ago I took up roller skating, mostly Derby training. And that's when my nice, routine, weekly hormone experience started getting all wonky (For completeness: I take spiro 3x daily, too). I inject into my thigh muscles & for the last two months I get a little blood welling out of the injection site and am left with a ring-shaped bruise for about a week and a half. Just in time for the next one on that leg! Any ideas? I've been on a needle one gauge bigger diameter for the last Rx due to pharmacy chaos, but I also used that size for the first two years or so w/o the bruises.
The other thing that has changed is that now, regardless of what day I inject, the next day that I get out and skate hard it's like I burn through half my dose in one day. I get all floopy and happy and floaty (not good when skating hard and turning left, or spinning backward for a fast stop). And then, two days before the end of my endo-week, it's like I've run out of estrogen/serotonin (cranky, no sleep cycle, digestive, and worst of all, certain sensory issues get much worse). It's like when I initially tried pills and went through huge twice-daily mood swings.
My endo, by the way, isn't really the most helpful guy. His specialty is geriatrics and, well... copped a feel at my final in-office visit. Yes, I will find a new one, but it'll be a hassle and isn't a high priority right now as everything gets done via email or rarely, by phone.
Sorry this was such a long post, I thought I could explain it better! If anyone has advice or ideas I'd love to hear them.
