 :-\Now i am sure. I'm a transgender.*or transexual?*

I am out to my mom as genderqueer but that made me realize even more what i really am.

I will be getting eye surgery for my myopia and after that depending on how i feel about myself i may come out.

The thing is,i know nothing of the procecess for getting Therapy or where to go or even start.

So can you guys describe to me where to go,and overall....what ever thing you have to do once you come out.

Thanks...

*pd: whats the dif between the two?.*

The difference between transgender and transsexual is subjective in practice - people pick which ever one they identity with. I hesitate to even explain what I think the difference is because 12 different trans people have 12 different interpretations on this. Basically, I see transgender as an umbrella term for anyone who falls outside of the cis-gender (people who don't question their gender) spectrum.

As for beginning the process - it depends entirely on where you live and what the standards are in your area. If you live someplace in Europe with universal health care - you may have options through that system. If you live in the United States, you can find a therapist with experience helping trans people in your area and go from there if you want to take some time and explore how you feel (recommended).

Therapy may be necessary for you to move forward in the U.S., again, depending which state/area you live in, or it could just be something you do on your own to come to terms with your feelings and make a decision.

Hope this helps some and welcome.

Definition of TRANSGENDER
: of, relating to, or being a person (as a transsexual or ->-bleeped-<-) who identifies with or expresses a gender identity that differs from the one which corresponds to the person's sex at birth
"People who were assigned a sex, usually at birth and based on their genitals, but who feel that this is a false or incomplete description of themselves."
"Non-identification with, or non-presentation as, the sex (and assumed gender) one was assigned at birth.

Definition of TRANSSEXUAL
a person who strongly identifies with the opposite sex and may seek to live as a member of this sex especially by undergoing surgery and hormone therapy to obtain the necessary physical appearance (as by changing the external sex organs)

For me i hate both to describe myself, and i even more hate when i see or hear the word ->-bleeped-<-.

For me i feel many out themselfs way to early. Remember once you let the genie out of the bottle you will never be able to put it back. I would not come out till i went full time. That way with help of a therapist you will know of a offical diagnosis. There are so many degrees of ->-bleeped-<- if its true you will match up to one of these. Until you know where you fit in the list i would keep things personal. Thats just the way i feel. (search the WPATH standards of care)

Good gender theropy is very important and well worth its weight in gold. They can help you through the hard times, trust me there will be many hard days to deal with if you walk this path. But even being it will be hard at moments, these are needed to make you stronger. Remember its good to cry and laugh.

There is not magic to this, its all hardwork and time. There are Gatekeepers you will need to see and through them you will get letters that are needed to see the next. This i feel is needed and should not be fast tracked. I see now why things are done the way they are, remember the trans part is based on transition.

Definition of TRANSITION
: passage from one state, stage, subject, or place to another : change
: a movement, development, or evolution from one form, stage, or style to another

I wish you luck in this path you seem to have to also walk.
