The TV quiz show Jeopardy!, for their 30th anniversary season, will be hosting a "Battle of the Decades" tournament where 45 former participants in their Tournament of Champions will be competing for a top prize of a million dollars. Fifteen contestants are being selected from each decade of the show; fourteen chosen automatically by the producers and the last spot being filled by one of five former contestants who the producers are putting up on the Internet for people to vote on.
As it turns out one of the people who is up for a vote this week has transitioned gender since the last appearance; her name is Catherine Ramen, who originally appeared as Fred Ramen in 1997, made it to the next Tournament of Champions, and participated in the 2005 Ultimate Tournament of Champions (all prior to transitioning). Voting is open here (now closed) for the next week, and you may vote once per day (defined as 7:00 AM to 6:59 AM U.S. Pacific Time). I think this would be a great chance for the trans community to select one of their own to compete, so vote for Catherine Ramen! Remember you can vote each day (as defined) through next Sunday.
