Four months HRT (last three weeks on increased estradiol) and it seems like my progress has slowed and may even be regressing. Anyone else experience this? I can't tell you what my blood levels are since my endo didn't do blood work at my three month check in. I thought he would, but everything was going according to play up to that point so I guess he just assumed all was okay.

I guess my options are to call him this week, give it another 3-4 weeks then call him, or just ride it out. I'm thinking the middle option--give it another 3-4 weeks.

Two things that have changed have been more empathy toward other women (like on TV, Downton Abbey on hormones without tissues was not a good idea!) and--my favorite change so far--an increased blush response. That was a pleasant surprise.

Thanks in advance!

I've seen the same thing at times.  Everyone is different and remember girls didnt become women in 4 months it was over a few years during puberty.  Most things are so gradual you really don't notice the changes even though it's going on.  I'm surprised you didnt get bloodwork done at your last appointment but for your sanity you can always discuss doing that.  Otherwise I think patience is really a virtue.

I'm a year in and most changes are in attitude, fat redistributions and muscle loss.  I'm also losing some hair in spots like my chest, arms, etc.  I know you want to see daily changes but its more of a slow process and not rapid changes like we wish.

Thanks! I am definitely going to ask for blood work as part of my next appointment!

Just probably a natural dip in your new "cycle". Remember, girls take several years to fully blossom and they have peaks and dips. We all want overnight success and I understand it well, but we will get there soon. Patience grasshopper!  :)

I hear what you're saying and it makes sense, especially when I think back to my own children's puberty. It came in stages, not all at once.

One thing I've noticed, especially the past few months, is that my gender dysphoria has been increasing. I used to be able to handle "man" mode but now I loathe the times I have to do that--which is 80% of the time still. And at work, while I still dress the part of male, I've been more comfortable being who I am, which is what this is all about right?

Thanks for the input girls! See you all around the boards :)

One thing that I've noticed a lot after being on HRT for over a year now, is that there always seems to be times where it is happening extremely fast, and then times where it feels like nothing at all is changing, or that it's even going backwards.

Changes from month 1-3 were rapid, then not much changed, then around month 5 I got another rapid development period, then once again it died off, then got another one around month 8, then nothing, then another around month 11, then nothing.

Just roll with it. It's a LONG, LONG, LONG process, and obsessing over the changes every single day won't do anything but cause you a lot of unnecessary stress. As long as your T and E levels are good, don't worry, and just let it happen, and it will eventually.

That's the thing...my endo hasn't done any blood work yet. Ah well...I know it's a plateau and am going to give it another two months before sounding any alarms. Been happy with the changes so far. Having said that, I do believe changes are still happening, but they seem more internal at this stage.

And that is the strangest thing I've heard of, yet I believe it is not uncommon. All Endos I know in Oz insist on bloods before each consult.

To me it's much like looking at a parked car in the street and saying it doesn't need a tune up. We don't ( not that I'm aware of) have any external meters, gauges or dials to tell us what's happening inside.

I also keep copies of all medico stuff just for my own, should I ever need an out of state medico visit. Does help them a bit.

7 monthes in ill say sometimes plateus are mini if a week or two, hell, month 5-6 was entirely one for me. 6-7 picked up a little, I had zero breast sensitivity those months, but ya....lemme say, if u take a picture of yourself pre transition amd look at it at six months, you realize a lot is going on. Even more so emotionally. I havent cried until month six midway, no reason, broke down cuddle up ubder the g/f's arms n let it all out. :) thats when I realized that other things may be going on plateau wise that aren't physical. Do not get too caught up in physicalities, which is hard to say- but if you took my current avatar and say compaired it to my dl picture (waiting on birth cert to arrive in mail)- youd be shocked. Same goes...take a monthly picture and compare. Six month pic wont vary much from fifth month, but it will from first month, I promise...remember though it may feel like nothing is happening but behind the scenes it is!
