Here's a fun post!

Discovering that people could transition and become passable as therir target gender was a revelation to me! Before discovering many transition timeline and before-and-after videos on Youtube, my idea of transexuals were solely based on the negative ugly, bizarre or plastic bimbo stereotypes portrayed by the mass-media. As well as being amazed, overjoyed and encouraged by those featured on the videos, I've always been interested in their specific choice of music for each video.

Sooooo, what music would you add (or will you be adding) to YOUR timeline /before-and-after /  coming-out video? :)

My first choice (ever since hearing it for the first time) has always been:
1. "Mad Man Moon" by Genesis. A beautiful, melancholic yet rousing and sometimes boisterously epic song (it livens up at around 1:50, and cheers up at around 4:50),  with lyrics that fit so well to my story and add metaphors to various aspects of being MTF trans*. (Though the word "man" featured in the title, is kind of ironic, haha!) I can think of a whole host of imagery to go with the instrumentation and lyrics throughout various points in the video, (in-between the obligatory shots of myself). The song's theme of a parched desert crying out for the fall of rain reminds me so much of my own increasing need to feel the cascading torrent of liberating emotional energy that may rain upon me if I took HRT. I'm currently putting together a pre-anything video (for should I end up going on HRT I'd want a pre-HRT video) and putting it to a shortened version of this song. Sample of some of the lyrics that fit so perfectly.

QuoteWhere a thousand mirages, the shepherds of lies
Forced me to land and take a disguise...

...If this deserts all they'll ever be,
then tell me what becomes of me.
A fall of rain?
That must have been another of your dreams,
A dream of mad man moon...

Within the valley of shadowless death
They pray for thunderclouds and rain,
But to the multitude who stand in the rain
Heaven is where the sun shines.

So now, over to you all!
There are no more barriers to cross... But even after admitting this, there is no catharsis... I gain no deeper knowledge of myself. No new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing.

When you find yourself hopelessly stuck between the floors of gender - you make yourself at home in the lift.

Declan.

Haven't seen this one brought up on threads like this. If I made a video (considering it), I'd probably use this song.

MUMFORD & SONS "The Cave"

QuoteIt's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you've left behind

The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

'Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth
Which will refresh my broken mind

So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know the maker's land

So make your siren's call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say

'Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be

And I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Awesome! I was really interested to see what everyone would post. Quite diverse! :-)

Hmm,

If I ever made one it'd probably be to this:

Or possibly this:

The second one's lyrics pretty much match a lot of our lives I think.
