Sports, sneakers, and short hair; it's what makes eight year old Sunnie Kahle unique. It's also what had her removed from Timberlake Christian School. Her grandparents pulled the plug on her time there after they said she was no longer welcome.

The letter goes on to say that students have been confused about whether Sunnie is a boy or girl and specifies that administrators can refuse enrollment for condoning [. . . ] alternative gender identity.

Time for the grandparents to take their business elsewhere.  Too bad for the girl, though.  She apparently had a lot of friends at that school.

Well you know the old story  if your different then your different, just show's nothing is really changeing with in the so called ,,,,,,,, religous  world, and why would they wont to change, they have ...THIER.... belive what ever it is and dam every one else  quess what the smirk will be wiped of thier face's one day.

what they dont know is we are a pain in thier rear  yet we and with our difference are still all part of this world and were born here raised here and pity for them we have as much right to be here as they do,

knowing those that i do many 100's they can not change thier idear's about us because then they would have to say they are wrong  and will they ,,,, sad to say ....NO....

Thompson says Sunnie is simply a tomboy, and that she's too young to understand sexual orientation or gender issues.

"If my child grows up to be homosexual or transgendered, I will love her that much more," Thompson said.

When the administrators said there was 'much more to the story', I was thinking okay, maybe there were disciplinary problems with the little girl. But then they confirmed she had excellent behavior and grades. So what's it about then, if it's not about her hair or clothes?

I'm speculating, but I can't help but wonder if it has something to do with this.

and so it sounds like they have a different, more tolerant interpretation of the Bible than the school does and therein the conflict lies. The school probably feels like they aren't doing enough to nip it in the bud, so to speak.

Yup... try to hammer it out of them at a young age...

That strategy always works... totally worked on everyone here...

Teaching your kids that you only value them if they fit into a perfect little box of behavior and gender expression never hurt anyone... turned them into psychologically-damaged adults who have a hard time feeling like anyone loves them, don't value themselves, hide their feelings, and have a hard time trusting and being open to others maybe, but that's totally fine, as long as they do it while dressed like a "normal" man/woman would.

They did the poor girl a favor. I would not want my kid at a school where she was thought to be sinful simply for being who she is. I can't fault the school. If their religion believes in ostracizing those of us who are gender variant, they need to follow their conscience (however cruel and nasty I happen to think that brand of religion is). The girl is better off elsewhere. She'll make new friends in an environment where she is loved and accepted by the adults there.

A lot of school administrators have no clue as to how to handle crises that are outside the norm. This is not a crisis. This is a school saying that someone  who doesn't look like THEY believe a girl should look. To me what they imply is that this girl creates avdistraction which totally untrue. They are the problem.

I'm glad that at least there's SOME "Christians" that are tolerant and accepting, as their teachings say they SHOULD be. Many of them look down upon LGBTQIA, which is far in compliance to the "Thou shalt not judge another; God is the only true judge" that is told to them by the bible they claim tells them to treat us (and other outcasts that don't fit their idea of what a person should be) the way they do.

I heard about this article (it was in the local paper, and I clipped it out and saved it) and my mother even showed it to me. I hadn't come out yet, but I've been dressing as a guy and cutting my hair short for years now, so she thought I'd get a kick out of it. i sure did. I was just...mad. My response is "This is why I'm atheist. Because of 'Christians' like this." And she just shrugged, because local events at our former church haven influenced my mother to embrace Wicca, my father to no longer go there for mass, and myself (though I have other reasons) to become atheist. In fact, I was shunned from the CYO (church youth organization) because they didn't want me talking about girls with them, even though the others asked me about it, and they sure as heck could talk about guys. More Christian "tolerance and acceptance."

Its not a religious or even a "Christian" issue.  Its just people (probably with "issues") pushing their own opinion and agendas.  Try not to use this to push your own...
