Greetings everyone!

Hello, I'm new here. My name is Narei and I have been a transgender for 14 years and started hormones at the age of 16. All through the years of postponing my SRS+Breast Impant surgery because of the obstacles in life that restricted me from truly achieving this great goal, it has come to this moment and this time in life that I am now able to achieve this goal financially.

I have thought about this thoroughly and have been waiting for this moment and it really makes me joyful to finally get this done. I have chosen Dr. Chettawut as my surgeon for my SRS+Breast Implants and my friend have done her SRS surgery through him and allowed me and my other friends to see it and ask her how it feels but I can't take only her point of view for it so I had to ask the ladies here to see if anyone has had any SRS+Breast Implant surgery through Dr. Chettawut himself.

My scheduled surgery date is at the end of next month on October 30th and will be arriving to bangkok, Thailand 3-4 days before the surgery. I have yet to send in my full SRS amount, my blood test, and my 2 letters of recommendations to Dr. Chettawuts bank account and I have already emailed Ms Som and Dr. Chettawut back to back on details.

A few questions I have to ask:

***How did you guys pay for your surgery? Did you have to wire transfer or did you bring the full amount with you to your "out of country" surgery destination?

***As he says on his site and through email. I will have a 4 or 5 day admission to stay at the hospital then released to our Hotel choice of Bangkok Rama or Dusit. Do we have to pay for the check in at the hotel before or after the surgery? And do i pay the hotel after or before the surgery? Exchange money to Thai currency or just give the hotel employee a debit or credit card to pay for my hotel stay for the allotted 20-25 days?

***After the surgery how did it feel and how long did it take you to recover considering everyone body works differently?

***Did you get a free meal everyday or did you have to buy your own?

***How do you feel now with your new vagina?

***(Since I am travelling alone) Did you make friends, have you taken pictures of places and people when you were there?

***What was the total cost of your surgery plus travel, 2 psychologist recommendation letters, and blood test in all?

Would be so grateful for all the information I can get from people who have done their SRS through Dr. Chettawut or any other country out of the U.S. Thank you!

Donna E just came back having done both. Me I'm 8 weeks post SRS with him.

1. Wire transfer. Note sometimes it looses your name on the transactions (depends upon your banking system) and can take 3 weeks to be "cleared" as Ms Som has to track the details. The money is there just without your name. One way would be to transfer a strange amount...

2. I paid Dusit princess at 14 days (I hit a hotel limit) and then again when I left. Both on MasterCard in Thai baht (better exchange rate)

3. Do a search in the forum as I did a write up whilst there which will help you. I'm now 8 weeks post op and although very mobile in the first weeks my body has slowed me down to improve my belaying chances. I don't expect to be back to the gym for another few weeks at least.
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,169918.0.html

4. Free meals? Well included breakfast was large buffet style and I often did not eat much lunch (fruits etc) and then evening meals were about 300-400 baht each.

5. New vagina - still learning but happy with the result. And so are all the medical specialists back here. But it is hard to describe - just feels good.

6. There were about 8-10 people at the Dusit hotel but I did not see many of them. Many were ordering room service. However I did meet some and am still In touch. Every person is different.

7. Total including business class flights and surgery was about 17,000 chf. Not sure what is was I. Thai baht... Just remember the skin graft is probably needed for you - so be prepared to pay it. If not you get some spending money....

Hi,
I'm 5 weeks post op (GRS + BA) and left a fairly complete account of my experience on this thread  https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,169593.0.html

I think you will answers to many if not most of the questions you ask there and suggest you come back to me afterwards if you need anything else.

I should just mention that in total (including a return flight from Strasbourg in business class), my surgeries cost me about 14k€, 10.75k€ for the surgery  and 3.25k€ for everything else,  bearing in mind that I stayed at the Rama. The Rama, while not as classy , is considerably cheaper than the Dusit  at 750€ for 28 days including an excellent buffet breakfast (mostly Thai food) which was easily my main meal of the day. As you will understand by reading my thread,  socializing was also considerably easier than at the Dusit.

Wishing you all the best.
Donna

Hello ladies,

Well thank you so much for the information. I'm a bit relieved to know what I will be going through my experience next month. I have sent my wire transfer receipt of my full amount of my surgery today and have sent a copy of my blood tests results and 2 psychologist letters of recommendation to Dr. Chettawut. Just waiting for a response. i am so anxious! Just need to get some information on what day to book my flight and how much more money I should bring just in case for the skin graft. I am quite "small" and don't know if being circumsized or uncircumsized would give me a less chance of paying extra for the skin graft.

I am so excited, but yet a bit nervous from the pain I have to go through after my surgery is done lol. It's quite a rush, especially doing this on my own and not knowing what else to expect on this journey. But all the while, I'm sure by next year I'll realize that it was all worth it!

Just wanted to say thank you mel & Donna for the information and the feedback of your journey for SRS, it gives me a better insight on what to expect.

I put together the summary of my experiences post op / home here
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,173797.0.html

There are other useful threads on the post op section of the site
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,43.0.html

But first - the operation procedure itself. If you can afford to fly business class home then it would be good - or at least premium economy. And explain your situation.

For the skin graft memory make me think it is about 32k baht. It is not related to circumcision (I had that) but more the stretch ability of the scrotal skin. Sometimes it is better to use it for the labia folds more than the vagina. It seems the graft is not skin removed from point A to B but more taking some triangle from the groin and inverting them into the vagina together with scrotal skin. The two sides of the graft site are then stitched together and look neat.

Say hello to Sri Noa and Rose - great nurses!

Thank you Mel. Really appreciate it. Btw, I wanted to ask. How long does the wire transfer usually go through? I have sent the wire transfer today as well as emailed my receipt to Ms. Som/Dr. Chettawut and I haven't got a reply back yet since yesterday.

I'm not as experienced in this as Mel and Donna as I've only sent my deposit but that was sent on the Monday Afternoon Australian time and my reply confirming receipt was sent on Thursday Morning Aus Time. Some days could be lost because Som is only part time so don't be too alarmed by a few days extra. I waited until I had the confirmation of my money getting there before buying my flights and that proved wise as my date was moved to 1 day later when I got confirmation due to Dr Chett being already booked up that day. It wasn't a big deal one day but it could happen.

Good Luck with your surgery and enjoy the last few weeks before the day so that you're not stressed when you get there. This is what you've waited for all them years and from all accounts I've read Dr Chett and his team will take great care of you and Bangkok is a lovely city  :)

Sorcha is correct - it can take 3-5 working days. And Ms Som does not work full time. If you are at all concerned about the wire transfer ask your bank for a confirmation of the transaction being done. This was automatic with my bank. This will also help Ms Som's team identify that payment has been sent.

My Swiss bank used an intermediary bank for some weird reason. So although the money arrived in the account within 5 business days, my name and notes were missing and it took 3 weeks for formal confirmation. Don't panic over this! It will be fine.

The skin graft (if required) is often paid in cash. Although you can use cash machines in Bangkok depending upon your card / bank you might hit some daily limits. So consider taking some money out daily / or from your home country.

Once the date is confirmed get those flight tickets - and enjoy an experience of a lifetime!

Thank you Sorcha and mel. I was a bit panicky since that was A LOT of money that was transferred and hoped nothing happened to it. All that hard earned money lol. That would be horrible if it got lost in the process. Well I guess I'll just worry about getting the last of my documents and blood test copies to them, after that, then everything is completely set. Been checking my email often to see if I got a reply back from Ms Som about my previous emails lol.

I'll definitely need to take pictures with my DSLR camera when i get to Thailand and make sure to post them on here.
