Spartan Race (and other athletic events)

Me and some friends are doing The Color Run this year. Our first choice is Boston, then Providence, then New York if the first option is taken. I have a fitness group and I want us to do a lot of different athletic events this year and the following. Is anyone else doing any kind of event or can suggest any kind of event? The more challenging the better. I like to have goals to work towards!

I would really like to do a Spartan Race this year but I have a couple more months of training before I feel confident to finish 10+ obstacles. Normally these events cost a pretty penny (up to $200 to compete), so when you toss down that kind of cash it helps motivate you to work harder to be able to complete it. At least for me.

Has anyone done any events or would like to do one?
