Hey, sort of awkward question regarding limited mobility after FTM top surgery.  I want to be prepared for whatever when I wake up after surgery!

Did you need a catheter if your procedure was over 3-4hrs?  The surgeon says I will probably need a 5 hour surgery- top, oovorectomy and a mons reduction.  I'm not prone to bladder infections but catheters sound OH SO FUN on top of all the other recovery junk.

This is even worse: Did you experience enough limited mobility that wiping yourself after using the restroom was an issue?  I'll be staying with my parents and would rather devise some jerry rigged device over needing a relative to wipe my rear like an infant if at all possible.  Ugh, or just cork myself up until I can manage to not pop a seam! Ha ha, just kidding.  I would just like to save this kind of embarrassment for when I am an old crankier codger if at all possible 8C
You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.

@ftmax  I got a consult with Dr. Satterwite of Brownstein-Crane offices.  Its sounds like he's been doing a lot of the FTM top surgery.  He's a plastic surgeon by trade and has lot of experience with facial stuff as well, so if I decide to get any other things done I might see him as I'm a California local. They are having a gynocology surgeon doing the ovary removal, so it isn't just one Doc.  Mons reduction is pretty basic plastic surgery.

I expect Crane and one of his urology specialists are doing more of the bottom surgeries, as Crane's background included a lot of uro-procedures.

Doesn't sound like a very good choice to get those surgeries on the bottom at the same time as the top.

Yeah that many at once sounds brutal! I can't speak to the other surgeries but I can speak of top surgery.

Yeah, my mobility was limited for a good week in ways I did not expect. I had to have my mom help me in and out of bed because I couldn't use my arms to raise or lower myself. She also had to wipe my butt, lol. erm, lifting is quite limited, there's very little you can lift, even a jug of milk was difficult. Dressing is hard, putting on socks and a shirt specifically. I could manage underwear. I couldn't wash my hair when I showered. There were probably a few other things I dealt with but those are what comes to mind.

Cool, thanks for your candid answer!  It sounds awful but tolerable, wondering if it might be an individual thing as I've read some blogs that made it seem like they were fairly mobile.  or maybe they were stretching their sutures and not caring, ha ha.  I want to hope for the best, prepare for the worst.  XD

In case I'm not clear, I was stating Crane does bottom/uro surgery just as a guess on his current activity, not saying I am also getting bottom surgery.  Top/oovorectomy/mons is all.
I was looking into other procedures but decided against it.  I don't have a whole bunch of tissue in the mons region, it's just something that bugs me visually asI don't have plans to ever get any other bottom work done.  Since I have insurance through my work, I decided minimum I needed to get top done and remove any chance of having to worry about pregnancy or periods.  Just so over that and I'd like to reduce my T injections sooner rather than wait for another friggin surgery.  For someone who works at a hospital I hate needles and going under ha ha...

I only have limited patience for surgery and recovering from it. Lipo, while still surgery is not going to be huge for me as I don't have a whole lot of extra fat there.  I've read a few blogs with manscaping and top at the same time and this is a lot less to recover from.  I'd rather have six weeks of discomfort than two or more surgeries.  But that's just me, I can only be so tolerant of waiting around.  Since I need my parents to take care of me,I figure I've got one chance to get the big stuff done.  Ovary removal is typically laparoscopic and most people can mange just fine pretty soon after, the mons I don't care if the scars stretch or look a bit funky, it's the tissue that needs to go. The only scars I plan on worrying about are the chest stuff.  I'll be an hour's drive away from the surgeon for at least a couple weeks if not more.  In all honesty, any kind of bottom surgery, in my opinion is as debilitating if not worse, so I'd rather get it all over with at once since I won't be doing that soon, if ever...
