"A petition has been started asking the Olympic Committee to remove Caitlyn Jenner's medals."
I added an update farther down about this possibly being a hoax by 4 chan trolls

Just the idea of them starting a petition for that is appalling.

Good luck with that.

Sounds like someone with nothing better to do really enjoys pissing in the wind.

Let's hope that the wind is strong and blowing in the opposite direction.

I read the entire wording of the petition text and I'm at a loss to understand what the motivation is behind this, seeing as they sound congratulatory toward Jenner and are suggesting that revoking the medals will actually be a good thing for the transgender community as a whole.  It's either complete sarcasm or a very messed-up mind at work.  How revoking the medals is helpful to anyone of any description is quite beyond me.

"We urge Ms. Jenner to support the transgender community by giving up the medals..."

I challenge the petitioners to find ONE SINGLE TRANS PERSON who would feel "supported" if they had their way.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

None of us would. It's the  complete opposite of support.

It wasn't filed by the guy who came in second by chance, was it?  ;)

Ludicrous. The contention always was that women couldn't compete with men in the physical aspects of some sports. Now they are claiming because she was a woman she was somehow better physically. At the time she was a woman in a man's body in a men's competition, she won. End of story.

As for being supportive of her giving back the medals, this member of the transgender community is appalled at the notion. These people should go back to the primordial slime from which they crawled out from.

Actually the Russian guy who Caitlyn edged out for her last gold was very accepting and tweeted something kinda funny. He said something like "not only did I not win, I got beat by a girl"

its just some complaining they got beat by a woman:)  Id tell them to come get them, Im sure she could kick their ass again..  Id love to help!  But if you cannot convict someone of murder after 7 years in some states, you definitely cannot reverse that decision..

This is part of why I was wondering if the entire text of the petition was actually sarcasm and meant to imply the exact opposite of the literal reading.  There's a proper word for this but it escapes me at the moment.

I read that one, then almost got sucked into the next story:

"Gandalf and Dumbledore to marry this weekend opposite the Westboro Baptist Church"

I don't want to derail this thread, but they are, sort of.

The Dumbledore Gandalf wedding will take place on Sunday 7 June.

Drick, I won't be able to go. This will be PRICELESS!
