Heya ladies, gentlemen, non-binary folk and supporters.
I want to introduce myself. Again...

You can call me Kam. I am 27 and FtM. I am currently 2 week and a day on testosterone. I never thought I would have the chance to say it. Not to sound cliche but i'ts been a tough journey just to get this far.

I was a part of this community for a short while back in '09 or '10. I had been hoping to medically transition then but had a long string of unfortunate incidents that kept me from moving forward. Getting the run around from doctors, loosing financial support from my parents while still going through college, losing my medical insurance, and being homeless for a time and without work.
These were things that caused me to drift away rather quick. I wasn't moving forward so I had to distance myself from it all while getting on my feet.

Now I have a steady income, if small, and can fully support myself. Just enough to get this ball rolling. I have a solid group of friends I spend time with every week. They may not always understand me but they support and respect me. They are my family. As well as my girlfriend of 8 years and going strong.

It looks like I can put the dark years behind me and move forward. I am joining these boards again to help myself navigate through my transition and lend a hand to other transgender folks that may not have the privileges I do.

Hi.

Welcome back to Susan's Place but I am a new comer here as I joined about 4 months ago. It sound like you had some pretty hard times a while but I am glad you got them worked out. I had some nasty job issues in my past but never so bad I was homeless. You sound like you have everything under control but let me know if I can help you.

Thank you very much, Dena. I appreciate it.

Yes everything is much better now. I have always done small freelance work but it wasn't enough to support me when my parents cut off my funds. I was juggling college full time and looking for work. Jobs were scarce especially for new blood with no experience at the time. So I simply couch surfed with my girlfriend's relatives for a while.
I would have lived with my parents but they were not supportive (obviously they cut my funds and insurance) and had pretty much kicked me out at the time.

All and all I was ok. I wasn't on the street, but with no permanent residence for a few years. Till now. I have a cozy two bedroom apartment in a decent part of town at a reasonable rate. Much, much better.

I always went with a one bedroom to save money. A studio was to small and didn't save much more money. A fates change, I am now a single person living in a 4 bedroom 2000 square foot house. What can I say, I got a real good deal on it at least till the air conditioning bill shows up  ;D

Very nice and spacious though. That's awesome! do you have any pets to help fill it? I think they do great for an otherwise empty houses. I don't know what I would do without my two giant old cats.

One day maybe my girl and I can expand a little. I almost went with a one bedroom for 500 but this two bedroom for 675 with a fireplace, hard floor, and a yard was a steal. Plus we needed the extra office for equipment. We both do work from home and own like....6 computers heh.

No pets, my nose would never forgive me as the house is a refuge from the pollen and dander of the world.
