 ???

god it hurts....

but I have made it through what I hope to be the worst part, the first clearing....

entire body, clear....alot of redness, alot of "bumps"... these last 2-3 days and taper away (Ive been working this for a week now)

my question is this

shortly after clearing an area to smooth, I feel stubble...cant see it, but in strong light its a fine and white hair or stubble of some sort. I can usually grab it again with the epilator and its smooth, but they pop back up within a half hour... Ive done these spots 4-5 times with the same results.

I cant be growing hair back that quickly? Have you seen this happen and have a explanation for it? should I leave it alone for a couple days? Any suggestions?

thanks!

That's weird, but I doubt your hair is actually regrowing that quickly. My body hair grows ridiculously fast, and even I never noticed hairs growing back in only a few hours. Usually when I epilated an area, there was a little hair growing in the next day, and each day it got a little worse. Some people seem to have it stay away for weeks, but I never got those kinds of results. What I ended up doing was to epilate an area every week or so, and shave every couple of days to keep any hair from becoming noticeable. Epilating did make shaving a lot easier since there wasn't nearly as much hair to shave, but I still had to do it. So even if you are cursed with fast growing hair, and epilator can still be useful, but I wouldn't panic just yet. ;) Give it a few days and see how much regrowth you get. As long as it's not too much more than there is now you'll probably be fine. Also, epilating can damage hair follicles over time, making them more fine when they do regrow, so there are other benefits to epilating besides just not having to do it as often.

Hi. There are two things that you could be finding. The first is skin... when you epilate, typically the hair will be pulled backwards and out. At least by most epilators I've seen. In doing so, this can and does actually rip some of the skin. Soon after epilating, this skin will dry and become rough. Then rubbing anything over the are lifts those bit of skin, giving a rough texture.

The next cause could be some of the hair sheath. All hair has a sheath between the actual skin and hair strand. It's kinda the growing medium for hairs. Sometimes while a hair is coming out, the sheath will come with it. But then it may be too big to come out of the opening in the skin, and so it gets separated and stays I  the hole. Then when it dries and loses volume, it can work it's way out of the hole and give the impression of a tiny hair.

In either case,  exfoliation is you friend. I recommend exfoliating before and after, and it should keep what you've described to a minimum.

Im becoming frustrated with this >:(

every day I wake up with stubble, nearly everywhere

and I have so many small pimples, Im guessing ingrowns

are many of the hairs breaking rather than plucking?

Im new to epilating but was hoping the pain would pay off

any words of encouragement?

My wife is helping me to clear my back, ive gone as far as I can reach without some taping the epilator to a stick

she is struggling with the pain she is causing me... I tell her its fine, but now she is giving up and tald me not to ask here to do it again

for some reason its taking much longer than I took for other parts and its frustrating and of course painful

when I can feel the pain and the machine is in my hands I can control whats happening, she is missing that sensation and I think she is babying me too much

Im afriad Ill never get my back finished... should I go get a wax? whats it cost for a back?

When deciding to use an epilator, I  really think you need to fight the urge to do it more regularly than the growth cycle. Otherwise you get into a pattern that can even cause skin damage.

I do find that epilating does leave a few broken hairs that surface and grow. More than waxing.  But going over them with the epilator will just put them in a different phase. As with waxing, it's best when they're all growing together.

So, after I epilate, if regrowth really bothers me, I just run over with an electric razor until everything has grown back. In my case, the epilator has a shaving attachment. It takes just a couple of minutes.

Unfortunately nothing out there will give you that freshly waxed feeling for long. Despite what tv ads say.

Something also worth noting,  there are usually  (at least in my country) different rates for men and women at beauty salons. Not just for waxing, but other services too. So it might be worth enquiring depending how far you are in transition. The difference for me was more than 50% for some areas ( eg laser on arm pit).

And heck yes it's painful. That's why not everyone epilates.

god I just want to cash in at this point

the hair "problem" is killing me today

not enough on my head and too much everywhere else

its sad, because my body shape, boobs, belly, butt, legs could all pass for a girl, a large girl, but a girl
hell, I could even drop my pants and pass most times of the day

but the hair issue is ruining it for me
I know we all have to deal with it

I have been running this epilator daily yet next day I am covered in stubble, hell.... hours later I feel it >:(
my feet, lower legs, hands and forearms are great, look great and feel soft and unstubbly, the rest of me...
f-it it.... stubbly, bumpy, full of pimples... I cant afford to take the risk of laser....esp if it doesnt take like many have said

I did exfoliate, and I got some acne cream and spray today....

just venting because Im pissed and hate spending this much time on my hair problems
