Hey everyone.

So, my name is Amelia, I'm a shy 21 year old mtf from France. I've been on hormones since approx. March 2014. I've been looking at this forum for a while now, wondering whether or not to make an account. And well, here I am!

I've realized that I was trans when I learned what 'trans' even meant, back when I was about 15 years old. I realized that it was exactly what I was struggling with and that this is who I am. Soon after, I've started wearing female clothing, which only served to confirm what I already thought.

I have a surgery planned in January, for my voice. (Also shaving of the Adam's apple.)
So I'm really trying to work on my feminine voice as much as possible, but it seems hopeless.
Neither my voice or my face help me look passable for the moment, and it's rather frustrating.

I don't really know what else to write exactly here, so I'll leave it at that, for now.
Thank you all for reading :)

Bienvenue Amelia!

Welcome to Susan's Place!

You have found a good place on the internet to be and are among friends on here as I am sure there are many who share nearly the exact story you do. I have found that we have many different yet so alike stories in our lives.

Feel free to ask questions and to look around the site. There is so much to learn from what has been written.

Love,
Clare.

PS

Your English is excellent!

Welcome to Susan's Place. We have people here who willing to help you with both appearance and voice. One of my areas is voice and I post in the voice forum regularly but my voice was unable to hit the feminine range so I needed the boost that voice surgery gave it. I still need to use a trained voice but I can comfortably stay at the right pitch.

Feel free to join in the conversations that interest you and I am sure others will be willing to help you with your problems. Many of use once needed the help that others gave us so we now are passing the favor on.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

It's fine. I'm actually more comfortable with English than French, surprisingly.

My speech therapist today mentioned that once my voca surgery would be done, I likely won't be able to sing in a female voice. Which worries me a lot. I hope it's not entirely true.

Here is a recent picture of myself I took: imgur.com/JvxLIC3
I forgot to mention I also plan to get Facial Feminization Surgery and am working towards it with my surgeon (Pr. Meningaud) here in Paris. I have to wear braces for a year, then I will get orthodontic surgery, then I'll finally be able to get the FFS itself.

Otherwise. What else can I say about myself...
I love video games (Profile name being a reference to Undertale, mixed with the name of a character I made), and I love music also. I really want to learn to play the piano, the flute, and to be able to sing.

You have a pretty good starting point already and I suspect could pass as female the way you are. Your features aren't that overpowering and I have seen women who looked much like you do.

As for voice surgery, it depends on the type of surgery you get. CTA can limit the ability of your voice where as VFS tends to move your voice up. I had VFS and while my voice wasn't normal, I found I had a huge increase in range after surgery. Do others have the same results? I am not sure but others have been able to sing after VFS. You will find examples of this and the singing in the voice section if you would like to learn more.

My old voice was so bad that any singing I did was before puberty. I haven't sung since but I might try it once my voice finishes healing.

This is my everyday look but I still get clocked, even when I'm not talking.  :(
And I think Facial Feminization Surgery would really make me feel better.

I have no idea if I'm going to get a CTA or a VFS. (I probably should know since the appointment for the surgery is already taken and everything though). Thank you.
