Hello Everyone!

I had my VFS surgery at Yeson back in August 2014 and am extremely satisfied with my results.  This December I'm booked to have my SRS at PAI.  I was wondering if anyone had any experience with having their SRS after VFS (Yeson)  and how you dealt with safety precautions regarding Intubation. I've been in contact with Pai and have told them about the procedure and the need to be extremely careful about intubation. They told me that for intubation, the anesthesiologist will be taking care of it.  I'm kind of paranoid thinking about it and a little stressed about making sure nothing happens with my voice, so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this and how you handled it to ensure everything went fine.  Like, did you talk to the anesthesiologist directly? What specific information did you send them, forms etc. ? Anyways, maybe I'm over thinking it, but I just want to be as safe as possible.  Thanks everyone!!

with love,
Alessia

Hi, Alessia :)

Every surgery I've had involved a discussion with the anaesthesiologist before the actual surgery.  I'd enquire if that is the case for your upcoming one - as long as it is, you'll have an opportunity to discuss this with him or her and ensure you are properly taken care of.

Unfortunately I can't directly address your question about PAI. :(

I am not sure what PAI is, Dr Suporn knows about the Yeson procedure and takes care of the patients who had it. So it is possible to do a SRS safely with intubation. I would insist on having a longer then regular talk with the anaesthaesist to discuss this and make sure he takes this very serious and does not downplay it or believe he knows better. You will need personal judgement of him on that. I made myself a little card that describes the issues with intubation and made it look official and printed it onplastic, so I guess I can use it a bit like "psychic paper" (if you know the Dr Who BBC series) and impress people with it, giving my words more weight than if I  am just a patient telling something to the doctor. Possibly it is also possible to get a letter from Dr Kim at Yeson - like a letter from Dr to Dr describing what is needed (if you get that, I would like to know if he does that and what he writes in it, please).

How long after VFS would it be safe to be intubated again?

I'd email Jessie at Yeson and ask that... It's not long until Monday now so you'll have the correct answer before you know it! :)

I'm definitely going to make sure that I have the opportunity to talk with the anesthesiologist! Thank you!

PAI is the Preecha Aesthetic Institute, Maybe they are aware of Dr. Kim? That's a great idea that you made a medical card, I should probably do something like that too  :) Although I already emailed Jessie about all of this, I think I'm definitely going to inquire about getting a letter from Dr. Kim outlining the procedure and all the important details, that's really great advice! If I manage to get a letter from Dr. Kim I will definitely pass it on to you.

Anyways thanks everyone! I will make sure to post updates once I hear back from Jessie!

Dr Kim says 2 months minimum distance between VFS and other surgeries and then use that smaller size tube. I posted the medical card I made in this forum as editable image, so you could try to get and modify it to your needs.
