'Tuesday's memorial event at Washington's Whitman-Walker Clinic in honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance was originally conceived as a joint event with the Human Rights Campaign but plans to involve the nation's largest gay political group deteriorated after its leaders supported the gay-only version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act that passed in the House Nov. 7.'
