Perri

So, my name's Perri (it is on the site, anyway) and I feel rather strongly that I might be transgender. I've felt varying levels of stress about that for 7 (?) years now (which is substantial; I've just started college). I've recently started moving toward figuring that stuff out about myself, and I thought it would be a good idea to open an account here since basically any search on the topic of MtF ->-bleeped-<- leads to this site.

I just wanted to post this because now there's something out there that is a lot more real than just my thoughts. (well, a bit more real) I want to see how it feels to say this about myself to other people. Granted, no one here actually even knows my name, so it's not really -- nevermind. My given name is Perry Turner, and I'm questioning my gender.

Welcome to the sight! Happy to have you here. I'm Tristan. A questioning but possibly transgender male on this sight. This sight is extremely helpful. At least to me it was. People on here supported me through so much confusion and heart ache. I hope they do you the same  :)

Welcome to Susan's Place. Searches tend to end up here because this is a very busy site and it takes me 8-12 hours to read a days posting on this site and comment as needed. We have 400-700 member on the site over a given day and 10 times that many visitors. It's a very busy place.

As far as your searching, you might want to look at our WIKI and "the transition channel" . Both links are a good place to start learning about yourself. In addition, feel free to ask any questions you might have and we will do our best to answer them.

Laurie

 Hi Perri,

I'm Laurie, MtF, just a little older than y .. oh alright a lot older than you at 64. I a self appointed unoffi.. err Official greeter here (that recently changed sorry) Any way I would like to say Welcome to Susan's Place Perri. I'm glad you decided to knock on our door. Come on in, please. You are not only wanted here but needed here.
As Dena sort of indicated there is a lot of information to be had here and a lot of good people interested in helping you out with your questions. You are not the only one of us that have questioned our gender, almost everyone of us have begun our personal journey by questioning what was wrong with us. or questioning why our bodies didn't match who we are inside. Or even questioning why we needed to dress, act, or look like the opposite sex or even be somewhere in between. I didn't see where anyone asked if you are talking with a therapist or suggested that it might help to consult a gender therapist so i am. I myself asked my doctor if he could arrange for me to see one and I not see mine when I have a need. If I feel if have a problem or not I find having him to run things by is a help to me.
Well I've mumbled enough at you, Perri so I'll just say welcome again.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Welcome Perri!

I'm in a similar boat. I am about a year post graduation from college and I have been questioning my gender for a while. I think that I am trans MtF, but I'm taking things one small step at a time as I try to figure it out. I've had a fascination with the idea of being female since I was young, yet all through high school and most of college I was trying to deny that those feelings existed because I thought that I was wrong for feeling that way. It has only been in the past few months that I've been able to be open with myself about these feelings, and I have yet to tell anyone else.

My best advice is to be honest with yourself and to accept what it is that you find, and don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions, both to yourself and to others on Susans. Best wishes!
