I went down to road to buy beer for the weekend and ran into a new staff member who doesnt know me and decided to check my ID. Thing is i havnt updated it yet and the picture is me with a beard. [emoji23] she tried to be proffesional but how often does someone walk in wearing a skirt and makeup then show a dudes ID? Poor thing tried to make small talk while she fumbled through the transaction and tried not to stare. I was stressing about being served by someone i know so this blindsided me, my heart was racing all the way home. [emoji3]

This has actually happened to me a few times, where I was in the clerk's position. I have to check every customer's ID at work, and sometimes people will have outdated IDs. To make matters more confusing, sometimes people will come in on behalf of a spouse and bring the spouse's ID and present it super casually without saying anything as if it's theirs. Since some people can have such a dramatic change in appearance, I never know how to ask without seeming rude :x

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah, you're reminding me I should probably update my ID photo... I'm 80 pounds lighter and haven't let a beard grow past shadow in a month. If I get too far into HRT and with more weight loss and it's the same picture on the ID, people are not going to believe it is me when it comes time for legal stuff. :D Plus I just hate looking at it.

Hahaha... yeah, Thursday I was almost refused entrance to one of my customers since my ID Badge for that customer has not been updated... Buzz cut and M gender marker showed up on the security's computer and I am standing there with long hair, makeup and heels...

Customer has submitted my paperwork to update my ID but it will take a few days to process. Good that I can put some pressure on them since all other customers have updated my badges....

You know your looking good when security is tripping out over your ID [emoji6] I look boyish close up so it doesnt take people long to figure out whats up with me.

Just wait till this happens at the airport. That's a trip and a half watching the agent figure out if that's really you and how to ask the question they need to ask.

A little different but the wife and I went bra shopping the other day. The clerk naturally went straight to my wife and started to help her. After my wife went to the dressing room, I fought some nerves and picked a couple out and asked to try them on(I only dress femme at home atm). The look on her face was pretty funny. I could tell she was processing a bunch of thoughts and I'm pretty sure "does his wife know" was one of them. When they didn't fit(so disappointed), I had my wife take them back up so it answered that thought for her and so I didn't draw more attention from other customers especially since just a male being in the store was enough.

So far so good. I have flown 4 times since coming out (all international) and at least one of the flights I was wearing a skirt, makeup. Greeted with "Hello Ma'm" they looked at my ID / Passport (all male) and wished me a good day. However given that I use Global Entry and Clear, they all knew I had been finger printed along the way and the Global Entry print out had my male name matching my passport, so it was not a big deal. Even the airline agents did not seem to spare a second thought when I checked in.

I hope it stays that way...

My experience with global entry/tsa pre has been easy though entertaining at times

I had another clerk do the double take, this time was not pleasant. Plenty of eye rolls and sighs. On the other hand when i was buying clothes from another store nobody blinked, they were really helpful and accepting so deffo going back.

Depending upon the circumstance it is fun, but be careful.  I've met some wonderful tellers and one or two who were just okay with it.  It's the people around you in line etc that you need to be careful of.

The first time it happen to me the clerk was in her 70s I would guess.  She was fantastic "oh my, I would never have guessed.  You look great." But then 3 hours later... The clerk, yelling loudly into the back store room "hey, there's some guy out here and he's looking for..." (I just left.)

People started to notice a difference before i was presenting female too but i think it was the long hair/nails and my effeminate mannersims that gave me away [emoji38]

Aha, that could be it for me too.  I have long nails too.  I'm growing my hair out and it's awkward in between right now.  I try to style it to be close like my avatar though, so yeah, right there.  I get my ears pierced Sunday.  That should really get people noticing.

I've tried to do long nails but I'm an idiot and keep biting one, then wind up having to trim them all.

I found getting shellac put on mine really helped me with my nail biting. It's quite unpleasant if u bite then with that on.

Then when I started HRT the urge to bite them went away completely.
