Now that's a mouthful of a name.  Anyway it's a recipe I've been making without the Heath bits for years and recently discovered that replacing 3/4 of the chocolate chips with them makes it even better.

These are not healthy, have enough sugar to be used to assassinate a diabetic person, but are super easy and amazingly tasty.

2 1/4 cup flour
1 1/4 cup rolled oats
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1tsp salt
3 tbsp cocoa powder
3 sticks softened butter or 3/4 cup shortening of your choice (I never said this was healthy in any way)
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup white or turbinado sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (use the real thing here)
3 large eggs
3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 eight ounce bag of Heath bar bits (they're next to the chocolate chips)

Preheat the oven to 350
Combine flour, oats, salt, cocoa powder, and baking soda in a bowl.
Mix butter/shortening, all sugars and vanilla extract until creamy and smooth.  Add eggs to butter and sugar mixture individually and mix thoroughly.  Gradually add flour mixture to the eggs, sugar and butter mix.
Finally, slowly add the chocolate and candy bits.

Bake on oiled parchment paper lined pans for about 9 minutes, cool on a rack.  Yields about 48 cookies if you are responsible and using a cookie scoop, 24-36 if you let the kids do the measuring.

Give them a whirl Julia, you'll forever be pestered about making more of them.   ;D
