For all of us who are having electrolysis, I have tried for the first time Roll-on Lidocaine 4% liquid.

This form of Lidocaine allowed me to let my electrologist to set her machine much higher than before. I felt no pain, what -so-ever. Previously, I was using the Lidocaine 4% Lotion. Also, my electrologist noted that there is much less residue from the roll-on than the lotion.

I have no financial interest in promoting this product. I bought my bottle at Walmart. It goes under the trade name of "Aspercreme Lidocaine". This product also contains a small amount of Aloe to help with the soothing feeling.

I just wanted to pass on my opinions about a superior product to numb the area my electrologist is working on.

Thank you. I will give it a try. How often did you apply it and how much time before electrolysis?

I use super numb and rub 3 applications in about 60, 30 and 15 minutes prior to treatment.

I have the prescription EMLA cream which is 2.5% prilocaine and 2.5% lidocaine. I also rub in about 2 applications and a generous last coat that I cover with plastic wrap. I time it to be done about a half hour before my appointment giving me time to drive there. I've been concentrating on my mustache area and some numbing is a must especially directly under the nose. I follow the other recommendation to prepare for a session also.

I just picked up the roll on at Walmart it was less than $7.00.I will give it a try Tuesday.

I stopped under the nose due to pain. I will schedule a few visits to Papillion for a local with electrolysis. I have to take a day off work to do that and am waiting until warmer weather to go shopping and have lunch in New Hope.

I used the roll on last Tuesday and it was ok. It does make crumbles where as Super Numb does not. Also, I think super numb works a little better.

I am so envious of you ladies who feel no pain with numbing creams!  I find that 5% lidocaine barely takes the edge off the pain, even after following all the suggestions (rub in a couple of applications, top with a thick layer, double-cover with plastic, let it sit for an hour before the session).  Last week, I was crying by the end of the session.  For my upper and lower lips, I needed a dental block.

It would seem that there is a lot of variability in pain sensitivity.

I think 2.5 % lidocaine / 2.5% prilocaine works a bit better. Now I've only tried it once and the pain went from extruciating to somewhat tolerable. But I also asked the lady doing laser and she said the level of heat is the same. So I'm not sure if it's this new cream working really well or my skin tolerates the level of heat more the second time around.

It was cheaper for me which I was surprised about. I'm definitely getting it again instead of just lidocaine. It's prescribed

I still have pain when I use Super Numb but I would estimate it to be a 50% reduction. Center upper lip ouch :(
