Dances With Trees

Quote from: Jessica_Rose on February 16, 2026, 09:57:26 AMhe will never go into hiding again. Let me introduce myself, I am Jessica Rose.
Powerful! Jessica, you are a light in the darkness.
If I live long enough, I intend to shout your words for all to hear (well, I'll probably replace Jessica Rose with Anni)

My thanks to all of you.

I'm not sure I would have had the confidence to transition if it weren't for all of the support I received on Susan's Place. This site helped me figure out why I was so angry all of the time. Being forced to hide your soul in darkness for decades would probably make anyone irritable.

I really don't like my 'before' photo, it's a painful reminder of my past life. I only posted it so people could see the tremendous change that is possible. Yes, I had some surgical help. The surgeries I had were the ones I chose to help my exterior match my vision of who I should have been. Whether or not you choose surgery is a personal decision.

Other than posting news articles, I haven't been as active on the site as I used to be. My transition has been complete for several years, along with my identification paperwork. I still have the same job, my wife stayed with me, and my relationship with our children is better now than it was before. It is possible to transition and not lose everything, you may even gain some things which you would have lost if you had stayed on your original path.

Love always -- Jessica Rose

If neither of us had transitioned, or one of us hadn't, then we never would have met. I suppose we should thank Susan's for that. 😀

On 19 Feb, we closed the sale of our old house in Arkansas. The funds from the sale were in our bank account later that afternoon. Once we have more information about any taxes owed on the proceeds from my dad's estate, we'll make a decision on whether to pay off the loan on our current home.

We invited two special friends to our house for lunch last weekend, CJ and Howard. CJ was my first electrologist, and she was the first person I came out to. At the time, I had not yet told Susan. If CJ hadn't supported me all those years ago, I'm not sure I would still be here. Howard is her husband. Unlike many men, he never hesitates to give me a hug. After giving them a tour of our home, we had some homemade manicotti for lunch.

Today, I did something I had not done since August -- I washed our Toyota! It was really dirty, but now it looks much nicer.

We don't have any plans this weekend, except to continue going through boxes from our move. I'm on-call until 9 March, so I can't go too far from home.

Love always -- Jessica Rose

One of our garage door openers went on strike about a week ago. The remote control and the manual switch had no effect, except to trigger a faint 'click' from the opener. We had a technician check it out yesterday. Luckily, all it needed was a few adjustments. He inspected and lubricated all of our openers, and said everything was in good shape.

On Thursday, I had some quality time with Kris. She had to move her office to a new location. The space she had leased was owned by a dentist, and he wanted to expand his business. Her new place is smaller, but it's in a much nicer building. It's also very close to some nice restaurants.

I urge all of you to update your driver's licenses and other documents as soon as you can, if your state still allows it. It's going to get worse for many of us, but hopefully the tide will begin to turn after the next election cycle. Stay safe.
