I did avionics in the Air Force. I tried getting in with the defense contractor here afterwards. No luck though.

I'm a forklift operator now in a warehouse for a very large cheese plant. There are many women that work in the warehouse.

I work in health care I take care of people in Long term care home (nursing home) I am a PSW personal support worker which is equivalent to the USA's certified nursing assistant. I also work for the union we belong to.

I'm a college professor. Higher education workplaces are generally safer than most for transgender workers. Mine is a bit of an exception, but I could definitely do worse.

IT and tech jobs are usually pretty good statistically, with a lot of the bigger companies being ranked highly on trans friendly policies. I do light IT work for family at the moment while working on bachelors in IT before hopefully moving into a masters in CS, so am cautiously optimistic about employment.

I work in the Finance Industry in the IT department in Chicago.  I believe this is right in the larger companies who want diversity, at least mine does, actively recruit LGBTQ people.

I work for a large auto insurance company in the US doing Mainframe IT work, specifically DB2 Engineering. So far I have not run into any issues with management or HR, who are the only ones who know about my planned transition so far.

I read a joke recently that a good third of trans women are programmers... guess not too far off.

For me: Planning and implementing Enterprise Software solution for Media / Film / TV. So more or less computers too...
No issues so far. Both company and customers are extremely accepting.

I was retired before I transitioned, so I have no direct experience of being employed during transition.  But like so many of our sisters, I was in IT for most of my career.

The last six years of my career were spent working from home.  Had I been ready to transition, it would have been no problem.  I didn't even see my boss or co-workers for that entire period.  Before that, I worked in a downtown office, so I would have been visible, but IT people really only care about the work that you do.  I do not think I would have had any problems transitioning at that workplace.

I'm a traveling engineer/scientist/handygirl/miracle worker for a European scientific instrument company.  And I work on the really expensive and complicated spectrometer that tends to give organic chemistry students migraines.  I have a bachelor's in chemistry with a focus on organic synthesis work and I did a lot of research work as an undergrad.

It was actually a pretty great gig to transition in since I rarely actually see coworkers in the flesh, and most customers got visited once or twice a year.  I hadn't seen my boss for over a year before we had our meeting to plan my coming out to everyone.  So I got to escape a lot of "what's with the hair?" sorts of questions.

It makes sense really. We are often ill at ease in society, being or becoming somewhat introverted as a result, and IT/CS type jobs attract people that fit that description. Computers don't judge. (Except for that one laptop that kept laughing at me. I showed it. I showed it good.) Also, it goes hand in hand with other trans outlets such as fantasy role-playing, be it going back to D&D or modern MMOs and the like.

I'm an artist in the visual effects industries.  I've worked in Hollywood, games and theme park production.  All are trans friendly now.  Games used to not be.

Very cool! That was always one of my dream jobs. Except I am not artistic enough...
