I had periareolar surgery about six weeks ago. My left nipple looks great, it never had a scab, it responds to stimuli, etc. But the other.... I had a scab for 2-3 weeks, it was black and had the same surface structure as a nipple. But then it just, fell off in the shower, and underneath it was nothing. There's still nothing, just a little pit. I'm afraid the nipple scab was actually not a scab at all, but a dead nipple. So now my left nipple is completely flat! I hate it! I've googled and didn't find much, but some say the nipples often become inverted after surgery, some say they sometimes remain flat forever. It's still almost two weeks until I meet my surgeon again but I'm so worried! Have anyone else experienced this? And if it is gone, is there anything you can do about it?

Funny, I've got the opposite problem - my left nipple is flat (and its great) but the other protrudes - and I can't say I'm too happy about it.

I think if your nipple completely fell off, you would know. Mine (the one that protrudes) came loose for a while and produced a sickening open wound. Call your surgeon and explain what's going on.
