So on Friday I was down in Hampshire for my nephew's wedding when I get a phone call from my GP surgery. when I answered they asked me if I could come in this week to speak with the doctor about my recent blood test results. Now, this blood test was for 8 weeks on hormones and was intended for the GIC for my next appointment so naturally I spent the whole weekend worrying that something was amiss or (even worse) that my GP wanted to stop my hormones. I told them that for me to come in I'd have to take time off work and that it would be easier to do a telephone appointment so they made a note for the doctor to call me during my lunch hour today.

Fast forward to today and I hadn't had a phone call by 15:00 so I phoned the surgery to see what had happened. After checking that I hadn't had any missed calls on my mobile they agreed to ask the doctor again. Half an hour later I notice a missed call on my mobile (I work on a helpdesk so I have to have my phone on silent and so I didn't notice that it was ringing). I hoped that there would be another attempt to contact me but hy the time I finished at 16:30 there hadn't been any calls so I decided to try to get to see the doctor in person (my GP doesn't do appointments, but has a walk-in clinic that finishes at 17:45 so I could possibly get there if the traffic wasn't too bad.

I got to the surgery at 17:10 and asked if I could see the doctor. The receptionist took me aside and explained the situation...

Apparently the doctor was on holiday last week so there was a locum taking her place. My blood test results came back and so he checked them. My name and gender marker on my medical records are both male so when he saw the hormone levels he put 2 and 2 together and got 9 3/4, hence the call to come in and discuss my results as he didn't know I was trans.

So, after spending the whole weekend worrying about it I ended up roaring with laughter at the absurdity of the whole situation.  ;D
