Do you have a hard time getting used to a purse?

I have only used one a handful of times. So far I have left it. Dumped it two or three times, and decided to put my wallet and keys into my jeans pockets.

Purses are a self-filling prophecy. 

I stepped up to a Bitchhaul model 3000. It comes with a ridge pole and I can spend a night in it if I have to.

In my drinking days I slept in phone booths. Remember those. It does seem your Bitchhaul 3000 is better suited.

I'm having some trouble getting used to using a wallet.  I've dropped it on the floor of public bathrooms before.  but then I remembered hearing that some guys when they need to sit down actually put their wallet/phone in their underwear, that way it doesn't hit the nasty floor.  I started doing that, and they don't hit the nasty floor anymore.

Maybe the thread should be "getting used to a purse/wallet?

My wallet has been found in the toilet, the washing machine, between the seats of the car. I don't worry much because there is never any money in it. But yes, talking about wallets for transmen is fair game.

There are several ways to keep your wallet with you. First, don't buy a slick wallet and possibly go for a tooled one. If the pockets permit, put the wallet in your pocket sideways. Put it in your front pants pocket and last but not least, if your wearing a suit, put it in the inside suit pocket. The inside suit pocket has the additional advantage that pick pockets don't like it. To remove your wallet from there they have to face you and they might be identified latter.

When I first started questioning my gender as an adult I was living in Europe so I was able to carry around a murse. For me the biggest problem is that I instinctively check my pockets for my wallet and keys, and would get that "oh s$#@" moment when I thought I'd lost them.

When I started having purses, I was only using them every few weeks. One I bought and did not use until 6 months after I bought it. When I picked it up, I found 3 more items I bought the same day. I have turned my house upside down for these items. Just never occurred to look in my purse. Also, my long lost car key finally turned up in one of my purses. Lucky for me, I limit purses to two. So now it is easier to find things.


@Ryuichi13  You could get a biker wallet with a chain on it... Not sure it helps with the public bathroom situation tough but you might be able to catch it in time...

My main problem is remembering not to leave my purse wherever I'm at, as pockets naturally travel with you. 

Also, determing what size/color to go with is partly fun and partly a hassle.

Phone, iPad Mini, flashlight, pen, business cards, medications, you name it, lived in there, and people got used to seeing me carry it. It usually stayed in the car when shopping, with my wallet in my back pocket, but anywhere else it was always with me. I called it my camera bag or PowerPurse depending on the audience. Switching to a nice purse was effortless.

I like it! And I could have worn a kilt with it, too!

It could actually be worn as a belt pack, with the shoulder strap, or carried with its built in handle. And that cordura was extremely tough. I'll bet I carried it for 15 years.

I have 4 kilts and a couple sporrans. Yours looks roomy.  I belong to a couple kilt groups and I have to wonder if some are closeted trans folks. A lot of the guys do find the kilt superior to pants. Imagine if they tried dresses.

Even though I'm half Scottish, I didnae ever wear a kilt or sporran.

However, I don't know how I ever did without a purse.  It's been totally natural since day one.  Oh, I've forgotten it a time or two, early on, but I caught on pretty quickly. 

I don't know how my wife has such trouble loading and unloading hers.  I always have the same stuff in mine: wallet, change purse, cell phone, glasses, pen, pocket knife, lipstick, Kleenex, mirror, keys.  I keep it loaded, so when I have to go out, I just grab it and I'm ready to go.  If I change purses, everything gets moved at once.

I think I'd actually really like using a purse, I hate having to carry stuff in my pockets, it's so uncomfortable. I'm known to just dump the contents of my pockets onto the table if I'm going to be sitting somewhere long enough.

On the other hand, I have a tendency to forget about any bags I'm carrying with me if I don't have my hands on them at all times. I once walked away from my luggage while I was in the Mexico City airport >.<. Luckily, it was still there when I went back a few minutes later.

I thought of one more that I never used. Sometimes in the military they put it in the top of their sock. The reason is if they go through inspection, they may get called out for a bulge in their pants. By putting it in their sock, loose pants legs will cover it up. This probably won't work with skinny jeans or other pants with a similar cut.
