Any thoughts on opting in or out? After Thursday they create one automatically and your last 2 years Medicare records are there to view by any provider with a reason to access your file...There seems to be some pretty good lock features incorporated with it but I don't know how useful they will actually be. On the surface it seems like a reasonable idea.

Thoughts anyone?

I opted out, security worries, and lack of protection of the data

I opted out as soon as I got a chance.

Thanks [emoji846]

I have opted out ....I will admit with my medical history I thought about it and had a good close look at it. But have not gone ahead either.

Thanks for answering I was curious as to how popular it was....so far its 0 for 4

Thanks

Liz

Mine contains exactly zero info that isn't already stored elsewhere with the same levels of security.

On the subject of security, how secure do you think the data your local GP or specialist has on you is? In many places, it's not great - does your doc lock their PC if they leave the room? In addition to that, it's often reasonably easy to get physical access to a server in a GP's practice and then you just clone the whole disk and walk. And those doctors out there still using paper files? There's no real security there.
This is not medical advice. Always consult your doctor.

I've never seen a doctor go through my medical history even when it's right there on their computer. I don't think they have the time of interest. Even if they did I'm not trusting them to do it properly and keep my own records. Too much downside for this, with next to no upside.

Paper files have awesome security. No ones going to hack in and copy those, and no one else cares.
