I've recently started going to a support group, and it's been a pretty positive experience so far it's been nice getting to meet with people in person that can relate to me . I've even been able to meet some new friends from the group. I kind of wish that I had gone sooner.

I am glad that your support group is working out well.  Groups open you up to a range of trans experiences, and they are a good way to get feedback and advice on issues that are bothering you.  Plus they are a great opportunity to present as your true self in a non-judgemental setting.

I will add to what Kathy has already said, I find support groups to be a safe place. They are also a place where a common knowledge set and language exists, a place where you don't have to explain everything in.
