I can't convey how much I hate them

Heyy, Torx drives are great compared with pozi/philips etc. You can properly tighten and most of the time remove much easier because the bit should fit snuggly. Less requirement to push with your body weight to get them tightened / untightened. Usually the problem these days is various plated / steel bolts into aluminium and galvanic welding. You've no hope without a blow torch or stripping threads.

That is the problem, steel screw into alloy, he managed to get one out but has to drill the last one.
Well I had a day of it, around the supermarket 4 times finding mums stuff, no seeds to put on my porridge. Then had to back the car and teardrop as bloke came and wanted to get in his garage, opened drivers window and it went into auto open before I could stop it. Totaly jammed open so had to strip door to close window, cant do it on my own so managed to get it shut but now not working. Later than I wanted to be now to dye my hair and do my nails!
See you all Sunday night when I get back from show.

YES, galvanic welding particularly with steel bolts and screws, spark plugs, etc
into Aluminum can make disassembly a nightmare.
Using an anti-seize lubricant like Permatex during reassembly makes it much easier to
remove screws, bolts and nuts.

Years ago I added a full set of TORX bits to my socket sets and I also have a full set to Torx "screwdrivers"

With TORX you don't have as many issues with stripped or rounded heads on your slotted or philips head screws and bolts.

I remember my mechanic days. Corrosion on aluminum or alloy was worse than rust on steel. Heat melts the aluminum, penetrating oil doesn't get in enough. Drilling is sometimes the only option.

I'd rather in-hex (allen key) screws or bolts.

I find torx bits wear too fast and become sloppy.

If you come across a bolt or screw that has had a poor fitting tool in it, then good luck.

At least with in-hex you have more chance of getting it out.  Mind you, they still have a finite life.

Galvanic corrosion suck, pure and simple.
And then one day you stop to find,
10 years have got behind you,
no one told you when to run,
you missed the starting gun

Heat works if you won't damage anything else. Heating it up then placing the driver on it and twating it with a hammer to shock it free sometimes works too.

Nick only had to drill one out and stainless allen bolts going back in. Well what a weekend, we all set up camp together in our favourite spot as not far to walk to  toilet/shower and show ground. Chilled Thurs afternoon once set up, walk around stalls (took car down to "power park") on Fri and then we all had a barbeque sat around in Nicks awning. Went down to show field about 7? with Jackie and watched a bit of a Slade tribute band before going to the Northern Soul disco, they were having a tribute to Ian who passed this year and always danced the night away at the show. Julie his wife was there as well as Katie and they did 3 songs for Ian and everyone clapped at the end for ages. Was midnight when it finished and I had been dancing for 4 hrs so slept well. Talking of sleeping my air bed gave up so was sleeping on the hard floor, think it helped my back. Chilling day Sat but we all went to the Italian restaurant dressed in our Mexican fancy dress as no time to change when we got back, I had a mushroom and goat cheese starter and risotto de mare (seafood, mussels, cockles? and shrimp) main that was very tasty. We got back to the show ground just in time for the mariachi band and danced around, will post a pic when I get around to loading. Sunday was car show day, vid on my You Tube. Julie won a prize with Ians hot rod Ford pop, must have made her weekend after losing her life time soul mate. We set off back about 3.20, satnav said 6pm to get home. I was following Nick towing my teardrop, he had the web down over taking lorries and I had to give it some to keep up. Nick left motor way and I was coming off at next junction and I ran out of fuel before I got there, Nick to the rescue with a can of fuel and I made it to filling station but got home at 7pm total exhausted Somehow managed to push teardrop into garage on my own and then had 3 bags to carry up to my flat. I drank 5 large glasses of water and a cup of tea and still didnt need a wee! Reheated some steaks that we cooked on the barbie and had a sandwich then off to bed after a bit. Lots of stuff to sort today, load of washing and cleaning to do . BTW at one point their was 3 of us trans ladies sat under Nicks awning having a natter, now that must be rare at a hot rod show!

I am still bushed this morning, feel like I have been beaten all over! That dodgy muscle in my back/hip has decided to knot as well. Off to mums, swop cars over and go to workshop for a bit. Temps high 20sC today and they say could be 35C by Thurs .

Today did not go to plan as battery low on daily after standing since last Wed morning, had to fetch the charger from workshop in Countryman. Swopped cars around once it started, picked a bowl of blackberries from a brier growing over mums fence so will have a crumble some time. Mum walked from bathroom to answer phone without her walker ,she said it was hard to walk back but she is getting a lot more mobile. Sun was getting to me so came home, had a shower and fell asleep on sofa. Staying at home after sorting mum out tomorrow to recover.

Sounds like she's on the mend. That's good news Davina. Have a chillout day to recover Davina, you do seem to live your life in the fast lane, it will do you some good.

Had a kip and a few cups of green tea , curtains closed to keep the sun out and I feel a lot better now. I do not do heat well , my car said 31C at 1.30 pm. Only draw back with closing the curtains is I had to turn standard lamp on to see keyboard!
I must say I never had any problem or looks at weekend, just goes to show its a small minority that are stirring things up.

Sorted stuff out for mum, another bowl of tomatoes from greenhouse! Sister said could I cook mum lunch tomorrow so I told her its tomato pasta tuna, got to use the squidgy toms up somehow! Dug all the spuds up, not that great as its been way to dry and mum didnt water them enough. Did a clothes wash and hung it out, hope its dry for when my sister calls later and she can get it in.
11am and it was too hot in the garden, I was perspiring by the time I had done that bit of garden work like running in my eyes!
Just got a ticket to the Hot Rod Drags, cost me £72. That will be my other holiday for this year, new airbed first.
