A shot that highlights why I love the isle of Arran in Scotland. You have the rugged mountains in the background (Hills as far as my US friends will be concered!) , the rolling green hills and woodland of the lowlands, the beautiful seaside village of Lamlash and it's sandy beach. You can't tell but I'm actually standing inside the remains of a viking fort too! Not bad for an island only 19 miles long!
To my right just out of shot is Holy Island which is owned by a tibetan monastery. You can go on meditation retreats there or you can just visit for the day and climb to the top of the hill for epic views of Scotland, Arran, the mull of Kintyre, Ailsa Craig and Ireland.
The pic isn't going to win any awards but it is one of my favourite places in the UK. i would like to retire there one day.
