Have you ever broken your cellular telephone?

How did that happen?

I have heard of people dropping their telephones into a toilet and that caused water damage to their telephones.

Wired a DC plug wrong on my bike one time. Plugged the phone in and fried it. It was still smelling when I set it on the desk at Verizon.

All electrical products run on "Magic Smoke". If you let the smoke out, they stop working.

My car key fob went through the wash.
I opened it up, put in a metal box with desssicant in a sunny spot in the house, and it dried out enough to work again after a few weeks.

Yes, dropped and stepped on it not paying attention breaking the screen. Was my fault 100%

Tripped over a piece of  new carpet and cracked the  screen on my previous  phone. Lost the  one  before  that somewhere  on the  M61 when on my bike.

I hate to be the oddball, but I never have.

When I spend hundreds of dollars on a new phone, I don't want to damage it by dropping it in a creek or smashing it on a rock. I always get a durable case and cover for it because I know how rough conditions can be out at the mine. If I am out mining alone, I don't want to take the risk of not being able to call for help if something bad happens.

Sunglasses are a different story. I can tell you stories about losing sunglasses. I am getting better about that... I have four pairs in my Jeep... just in case.

I've broken the screen saver a few times.  I'm not sure if the screen would have broken in each of those events.  Screen savers are cheep, phones are not.

In the past I use to have an armored case around the phone and then carried it in another case on my belt.  Now my phone is in a slim stylish case the slips into the back pocked of my women's jeans or into my purse.  I seldom wear a belt now days.

I stopped wearing a belt clipped telephone when as a guy.  I still like nice belts though.
Screen protectors are good to use.  I stopped using the heavy cases.  No need in a purse to have an armored case.  But some case is good all around the telephone.  We cannot always prevent a drop.

I still use the armored case, even in my purse. No reason to take it off and put it on. I only use the belt-clip case while mining. I can easily transfer it from my belt to a strap on my backpack. The belt-clip case is a thick canvas, so it adds an extra degree of protection.

I like belts too! Some are functional to hold my pants up. Most are decorative in various styles and colors.

No need to have two telephone cases for sure for one telephone, so if you chose an armored case, use it whatever your store your telephone. 

Speaking of purses, they are nice to have, although I guess now some men have "man purses."

I had my phone in the front pocket of my jeans (as a guy) and I played my daugher 'air hockey'.. I did not realise that my lower body was hitting the side as I leaned over for a 'killer' shot to finalise my victory (well, she was 8 at the time (10+yrs ago) and she needed to learn that not everything is easy - Air Hockey in particular!)..

Walking down the street, my victory still rising through my being and my pride at beating a child puffing my chest up as I ridiculed her failure.. I pulled out my phone to see the screen shattered to a thousand pieces.. My victorious smile soon turned into total panic as we were currently on holiday in Spain and this, my only phone, seemed like a lifeline that was now gone... My daughter, however, thought it was hilarious and still antagonises me to this day about it.

As a family we have broke phones galore.  I have repaired several successfully.  We have had phones experience: drops, swimming pools, toilet baths, toddlers bending them directions they do not go, things getting dropped on the phone from angles the Otterbox did not protect from.   I can replace broken screens, batteries, and sometimes successfully solder on the motherboard for connectors and such.   I wore out one phone that I really loved and that was a Motorola StarTac CDMA model.  I kept that phone well past its use by date.   I also keep computers running for ages with upgrades and even de-windowsing them by making them in to Linux boxes.

I lost my telephone but found it with a find feature.  Very cool.  It made a sound and I walked towards it.  Had to play the sound about four times as I was about 400 feet away from it to begin with.  It was also on a "map." 

But, to use this feature, you must have a second device handy to find the missing device.  Still, I am grateful for this feature.

Never. Not once.

I've spent over a decade climbing over rocks, crossing streams, and bushwhacking through dense underbrush. I have damaged the case, but never broken the phone or the glass.

One of the best investments I made ages ago was getting an OtterBox phone case with a sliding cover to protect the screen. Eventually, the plastic broke in freezing temperatures, but the phone was unharmed. I think I paid about $10 for the case.

Usually, there is no service in the remote areas. I put it in Airplane Mode to conserve battery and just use the camera for documenting or the GPS for navigation. In some areas, 911 is available and can connect to the Ranger District office or the Sheriff's office if needed. So it's good to have it along, just in case.

I was running for a bus and had to cross the road in front of it. As I was doing so, my iphone fell out of my pocket and was ran over by said double decker bus! I picked up the remains and walked into the apple store and the guy in the genius bar replaced it for free! I was so impressed!

The very next day I was playing golf with a friend and lost my temper after a bad shot and hit my golf bag with my 5 iron in anger. When I finished the round I went to get the car keys out the zipper pouch and out fell all these tiny pieces of glass! My shiny new iphone was smashed and bent in the middle!

I had to sheepishly go back to the apple store and get a new one, I had to pay this time unfortunately! I try not to loose my temper nowadays, lesson learned!
