Figures, Friday evening and the internet is very slow. My main problem was a mother that would use the palm of her hand on my cheek to show any displeasure in the way I acted. Contradicting anything she said was the same as calling her a liar, and subsequent punishment for calling her a liar.
At the same time physically abused as a child, moving out to live with a friend, I was scared she might come to make me return home. When she insisted that I return home when I stopped to pick up my mail. Then there was some excuse that I needed to be there in case there might be a need to take her to the emergency room.
Just speculation that she needed to prove to the rest of the family that I was a normal male. Part of that being butting in to any conversation with me by any guy. And of course she had an excuse for why I had earrings on both ears. The explanation she gave was that I did not know which ear meant straight, so I wore earrings on both ears. I didn't like my original name much, especially when others were telling me I was not pronouncing m name properly. It is a Spanish word and I was told that it should have the Spanish pronunciation. My mother told me after I legally changed my name to Michael, that she would continue to use the name she gave me. She even went as far as telling everyone to use my old name as my new name was for legal purposes only. Mike had been my nickname long before I changed my name.
