Emma, thank you for that vignette of your life.

As you know, just as with everyone else, you are under no obligation to explain or justify your choices. Your life is yours to live as you choose, and the peace and happiness that you and your dear wife have achieved and sustained is all that anyone should need to see to recognize its rightness for you.

And yet, you do choose to share your inner world with us, and it's just so lovely to witness. I genuinely adore that even though we all have so much in common, we also live lives that differ significantly, and we find our own unique ways to navigate and negotiate our world to manifest our best selves.

What a treat! Thank you!

Pema, that is what makes this community at Susan's special.  There is a trusting friendship that allows us to share what being transgender means individually to each of us, while supporting each other at the same time.

No the flamethrower method of ridding snow seems suboptimal and risky.  Might burn the grass and other things around.

Is that the General Sherman statue in Central Park?

Stay warm.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Chrissy, I thought the flamethrower was amusing but definitely not practical!!!

Yes, that was General Sherman on his horse behind me.

We used to use a couple of jet engines bolted to the front of a fuel bowser to clear the snow off the runway. The exhaust was pointed downward and forward. It was pretty scary, I was shown how to use it but thankfully never had to. I can't find any evidence of it on google apart from Russian airports. I don't think it would pass todays safety standards (this was in the 1970's)

They had a small jet engine (helicopter?) on a trailer to dry the drag track.

OK, a small jet engine is off the list for this snowstorm, but I have plenty of rock salt, gas for the snowblower, wood for the fireplace, and enough red wine.  I may do a chocolate run and get marshmallows for the hot chocolate.

I stopped myself from clogging up Laurens blog with my child-like joy of NYC in a snow storm.  It's my favorite time. The snow softens everything visually and city becomes very quiet and peaceful.

It actually is beautiful to just watch the snow fall with a mug of hot chocolate in hand.

Pema

I've always loved how quiet it gets when it snows, and how the pace of things seem to slow to what's actually natural.

Enjoy it while it lasts, Emma.

Pema, we got clobbered, 12-14 inches.  The temperature is projected to stay between 12 and 28 degrees for the next seven days, so it is going to last quite a while.

Glad the subways I take are underground.

...but it is pretty out!

Yes, that does sound like a solid clobbering. And cold.

Stay warm and dry. If you can get a decent photo, I'd love to see it. If not, that's fine, too. Just stay safe.

I think our @Northern Star Girl (Danielle) would just think that is just an average day. 😁

Ellen, that's why I visited Alaska in early spring, before the mosquitos hatch!

Davina, we're holding the weather here for a while, the weather prediction is for at least 10 more days in the teens and twenties, so I think you are safe...for now.

Spam away, Emma. Trust me... to me it's magical. Anything over an inch and the whole of the UK shuts down with everyone doing a Helen Lovejoy from The Simpsons. "Won't someone think of the children!?"

We don't get even close to what you folks get over there. It's like a winter wonderland. Feel free to post anything, anywhere!

Sadly, the beautiful NYC snow has morphed into ugly piles of frozen muck. We have a sub-zero temperature for a week and expect another week of the same. The local parks have retained their snow charm.  For the sledders, the snow has an ice crust that generates speeds that would get them a speeding ticket on the street.

To cap it off, we have a Nor'easter heading this way for the weekend.  Fortunately, we didn't get the ice storms that toppled trees onto homes, cars, and power lines like they had in the south.

Stocking up on more hot chocolate.

Absolutely, Davina, Marshmallows are required!!!

So now, all that beautiful snow has crystallized into grey tundra blobs blocking everything.  It will be around for the next week because we will continue to be below freezing.  I actually love the extreme cold and all the fashion choices the cold offers.

Here are two quick samples of the storm that I liked:

The first video was at the height of the storm.  The wind actually knocked me around.

Sephirah, I thought of you in the second video, a perfect winter scene in Central Park.

I promise Pema that I will take a nice photo next time.

Try to stay safe and warm Emma!
