Have you planted cauliflower?

I have bought the plants at a nursery but haven't had any luck raising them..... They just struggle a while and die.

They can be very fussy. If they don't like something at any point in their life they'll likely bolt! Just as you think it's all going well then they're ruined. I gave up with them!

My son has tried to plant alot of things. Even stuff that is supposed to be easy to grow. He has a black thumb. Though in his defense he is high functioning autistic and looses interest real fast if he doesn't seen results in his time frame

Romaine lettuce is easy to grow, onions too.  I will plant some celery.  Could plant some spices.

Did well and got the trophy for best plot after a couple of years. Unfortunately my work hours went silly with constant working away. I couldn't keep up anymore. That and a mental breakdown. The food was very tasty though. Much better than shop bought

I've started 4 varieties of cauliflower, 4 plants of each. They are fussy as Charlotte said, so the heads I get are usually pretty small. Occasionally I'll get one comparable to the smaller ones I'd buy at the farmer's market.

Charlotte, that garden of yours looks phenomenal.

Kellie, artichokes do really well for me here, but they take up a ton of space for so little yield. They're basically giant thistles. And they rarely survive the winter. So I've stopped growing them. Nevermind the work in eating one!

Chrissy, peppers aren't easy for me where I live. When I lived in the Midwest US, they were super-easy - plenty of sun and summer rains. In Western Washington, the season is short, the sun is lower in the sky, and it never rains in the summer. By September, I'm out there begging the peppers (and eggplants) to ripen. Some do, but some start rotting on the plant in the cold nights. Every year is a gamble.

I keep growing almost everything, because: A) I'm a plant addict, B) I keep shifting methods and varieties hoping I'll find the magic combination, and C) I'm a plant addict.

I guess we can grow inside if there is enough light.

Not just starter plants to transplant.

The deer and hogs get a lot of what we plant. They think it a buffet. Im not allowed to shoot the lawn deer. Hogs that's different. They destroy lawn and pasture

Last year was out first try a cauliflower, we got 2 good size heads and one somewhat smaller one. 

Peppers are said to need full sun but in reality they need shade for part of the day or they tend to rot on the plant. 

We are getting ready to put some cold hardy plants in the ground, Beet, Peas, broccoli, and the like.  My wife will be starting some warm weather vegetables in the greenhouse soon.

Mum was given some cauliflower seeds, she has broad beans and carrots growing at the moment. The leeks have not grown they are like spring onion size.
