It looks like my trip to the mountains is being postponed.
My plan was to spend the 4th of July weekend prospecting in the gold fields. I have been waiting to have an MRI on my left knee to see if the torn meniscus has gotten worse. My Primary doctor said she can give me the cortisone injection, but wants to see the condition of the meniscus first.
She sent a referral to the VA in Colorado Springs, who told me that their earliest appointment would be in September. Yeah, I want to waste my entire summer in pain waiting for an MRI so I can get a cortisone injection. I requested that they send the referral to the local hospital here in Pueblo so they can get me in sooner.
I wait and wait. On Saturday, I got an email from the VA saying they sent the referral to the hospital. Yay! And gave me the number to call to set up an appointment.
This morning, I called the number. It is for Radiation/Oncology Therapy, not Radiology. I called the main hospital number and got redirected to Radiology Scheduling. They have no referral for me from the VA or anyone else yet.
Exactly four and a half minutes later, I received an email stating that I needed to check the information on my account in the hospital's patient portal app. I log in and see a message that my MRI appointment has been scheduled...
for the morning of July 4th.
Of course! Why make it convenient for anything that I want to do? ARRRRGH
It will take 3 - 5 business days for the radiologist to read the MRI, write a report, and send it to the VA. The hospital is good about sending me a copy via mail. Once I receive that, I can contact my Primary to schedule an appointment for the cortisone shot. That could take another week or more.
Also in July, we should hear from our Property Manager about the sale of the property and how badly the new owners plan to jack up our rent. So my downtime is not wasted. I am still househunting for a place to rent or buy that will cost about the same as my rent. That will get me out of the mobile home and into a place with a solid foundation, get away from the road that people think is a 24/7 dragstrip, and away from the morons who routinely set off illegal fireworks year-round. No place is perfect, but I think I can do a lot better than this.
Overall, life is good.
