I think Colorado is not a low cost housing state, but much better than NYC and San Francisco.
Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

I moved back here because it is home. I went to high school here and was stationed at Fort Carson in between overseas tours. I love the mountains, and state laws protect LGBTQ rights.

There are cheaper places to live, safer places, too. But they aren't home, and very few of the Rocky Mountain states are as protective. I don't need a place that everyone can afford, just one that I can afford and I can feel at home in.

I would like a log cabin with convenience in the middle of nowhere but maybe ten minutes from everything!

That is affordable too.  Not seven figures.

That sounds nice. I can't afford seven figures. Usually, ten minutes from everything is temporary. When I went to high school in Loveland, I could easily walk to the city limits. Now, those city limits are miles away, and it takes 20 minutes to drive there (in traffic).

I'm not sure why this simple post made me tear up. Maybe because you directly stated your needs and then fulfilled them. Maybe because I also live in a beautiful place with great laws to protect people like us, though in my city the city itself is filled with many people who oppose and deny our existence. And as you and continue to dance around shared places on the map, I'll add that years ago I completed a lengthy survey designed to determine the best place for me to relocate to. The top three were Chico and Redding, CA, and Fort Collins, CO.

Went grocery shopping this morning. The Loaf-N-Jug near Walmart had gas at $4.17 per gallon and is usually the lowest price in town.

I figured I would skip that one and stop at the Loaf-N-Jug, a few blocks from my house, to get gas there instead.

The price was $4.77 per gallon! They also have shiny new gas pumps that say SHELL. I went inside and asked when they became a Shell station. The clerk said only the gas is Shell, the convenience store is still Loaf-N-Jug.

I told him the price at Loaf-N-Jug was $4.17, and he said, "Yes, they just raised the price two hours ago." Well, I saw the price at L-N-J about 15 minutes ago. Shell is charging 60 cents more per gallon. I am not okay with that. I said goodbye, and I won't be back.

If I go one more block, I can get it cheaper. I haven't bought Shell gasoline in decades. Now I am reminded why.

@Lori Dee
Dear Lori:
On my trip back to Montana to see my parents last week, the gasoline prices
in Washington State were $5.59 per gallon, not quite as high as California.

As soon as I crossed state line to Idaho, the gas prices were $2.49 and then
once I got to Montana the gas prices were $2.19 per gallon.

Most of the variations in gas prices from state to state have to do with State Gas Tax, Ecology Fees, etc.

I don't understand why the some of the higher gas tax states don't have a gas tax holiday to help out their residents.

Quote from: Northern Star Girl on Yesterday at 03:20:24 PMI don't understand why the some of the higher gas tax states don't have a gas tax holiday to help out their residents.

It's all about the money. They have billions of dollars coming in that most people don't know about. They think the gas station owners and oil companies get all the money. So the state and federal governments sit back and collect. Gas prices are always quick to rise and slow to fall.

Some states have considered a Tax Holiday (back in March), and now Trump says he is considering it, too. So maybe we will get some relief soon. I've got some places to go, and I don't want to worry about gas prices.

When did you move to California?  🤣

I feel your pain. Whenever gas goes above $5, I stop driving. It has happened a few times during my adult lifetime, and I refuse to pay that much.

But I am retired, so I can do that. When people are working, taking care of kids, or have a lot of medical appointments (like my parents), it adds up quickly.

And Labour are still trying to raise fuel duty by 5p in the autumn! I'm so glad I can work from home these days!

Our IT server has fell over this morning so none of us can do any work🤣🤣. It's great because I am now being paid to sit on my bed with a laptop on here ha ha! The pain will come when they get it back up and running though as there will be an almighty backlog to clear!
