Without wanting to get too political, you have your glorious leader to thank for blocking the Straits of Hormuz. Everything is sky rocketing including shipping costs as fuel isn't getting through to China and the east and there's no end in site unfortunately. Even if he pulled out and Iran opened things up today it will take 3-6 months for the shipping to filter through the straits and reach their destinations.
Batten down the hatches for a while I'm afraid.
Because of the timing I think it is likely a way for them to make more money. But energy costs have been increasing.
This med has been made far before energy costs have gone up. They are jacking up the price now instead of waiting until costs deserve the full price increase. They are anticipating the costs to go up so they are raising prices now.
Fuel stations raise their prices faster than they bring them down. At least prices are still lower now than they were just a year or two ago. So we should be happy. However, when prices go up few people who have to buy are happy. They do not think of two years ago, they think of recent price increases.
Now, will our compensation go up proportionally to keep up with price increases?
We shall see!
