Root gap is where your upper breast attaches to the chest wall. In simple terms a two finger gap and below is close set, 3 fingers and above is wide set. Wide set boobs are maybe more common on trans women due to them often having a broader chest. You tend to get east west pointing boobs too though not always. A wider root gap often means it's harder to get cleavage (assuming good growth) and it can affect what sort of bra styles are best for your shape or what sort of bras are best to get the cleavage effect (ie pushup).
Plenty of CIS women are wide set also, It doesn't mean anything other than it affecting clothing choices really. I don't think there is anything you can do anything about it, it's just how your body is or isn't. You often see this affect with boob implants where the large spherical implants are spaced further apart.
Dev, I don't appreciate being mocked about this sort of stuff, this is twice you have done it to me now. You might think it futile and pointless to measure your body but that is your opinion, an opinion I do not share. I have found body measurements very useful to help guide my bra and other fashion choices as well as track weight loss and body changes, others may be interested for their own reasons. If you think the whole thing is silly maybe don't comment and just s->-bleeped-<- in private.
